Hi Belinda I tried Cajun... didn't care for it. Tired JS that one was good ... still not close to C&S . I did order some scents from Indigo... will update once I receive the order.  I'll try a few more vendors...if I don't find one it I guess I'll have to work with perfumers to formulate / create one myself.

I'm sorry you haven't found a good replacement yet. I hope you do. I will say I didn't care for the oatmeal cookie that FB carries but you might. I also hated the one from BCS. They're closed now and I'm not sure if BCN carries it or not but it stunk so bad to me and was SO strong!

Let us know if you find a good one. I'm always looking for a good cookie scent.

I ended up ordering from Natures Garden.. fingers crossed that these will work out for me.. you guys are right, it gets expensive testing these different products.

They have some good oils too.

What scents were you using from Lone Star and the other company? Maybe it was the scent itself. Some are just stronger than others.

I hope you have good luck with NG's beads. I baked some of theirs the other day and they seem to be great so far.

Premium! The economy don’t melt well at all and take forever to soak!

I just placed an order! Thank you for the information. Maybe I can get some fresheners to turn out  the way they used to.

I go to Church in New Caney too. What Church do you attend?

I go to the church of Christ. I take the NC exit from Cleveland and turn right. The building is about a mile and a half on the right. Where do you go?

  7. I"ve only used a couple of their oils but really couldn't tell you which ones except a couple of their fall ones. They smelled fine to me from what I remember. I would say they are on the same level as NG and JS. I think they carry some of the same oils and maybe some of the ones from FB.

    Wish I was more help.

  8. I like birthday cake from JS too and also FB (which smells pretty much like the one from JS) and I also like RE's bday cake. My favorite vanilla is Vanilla Bean Noel from WSP or Mrs. Claus cookies from NG.  I also like sugared vanilla shortbread from CW. Another good vanilla is Sugar Cookie Royal from Flaming or FB.

    Sorry to be an enabler!

You would think that after several complaints she would realize that it's her beads that are the problem, not everything else she claims.

When I met her the second time I ordered from her she had me meet her at a postal shop and she was shipping out huge bags of these beads. The bags were so big that they had to get a flat bed dolly to wheel them all in. She said she sells over 6,000 lbs of these a week.

I wish I knew exactly what these beads are called so I could look for a wholesaler that sells in bulk and go through them and just cut out the middle person.

I would imagine that she doesn't want to admit the beads aren't any good because they've probably got to get rid of what they've bought from their supplier. They may even have a contract or something with them also. I'm not sure how that type of business works. If she starts losing enough business then she'll switch to something else but I doubt she'll ever admit they were bad beads.

I don't know how you would bypass the middle man but if you find out please share! LOL!

Have you tried Lonestar''s b day cake? It's the only one I have tried and really like it, but I don't have anything to compare it to.

I did buy some of theirs actually but to my nose it smells like play dough. Theirs, Aztec's and ICS all smell that way to me. I know a lot of people like them though.

    Thank you for your suggestion.

I'm interested in trying to make chunk melts (I think they look so cool & pretty), but I mostly have 6006 & 4630 on hand which would be too soft on their own, right?  However, I have recently received some glass glow & thought I could add a little to either of the above to harden it up a bit, maybe 15-30%?  I realize that wouldn't be enough palm to show any pattern, but just looking to firm up the softer wax. Sound reasonable?

I think that would probably work, especially with 6006. Just experiment and see how it goes and have fun!

  12. @cswilson, that's terrible how those came out! I haven't had any that split on me like that but mine will be melted together around the edges and even about half way to the middle and then right in the middle they're not melted together. The beads will just fall out of the middle leaving a big hole!

She tried to tell that same thing on her facebook group page when a couple of us were asking if anyone was having problems with their beads. She made a big post about how the weather affects them blah blah blah. I've been making these for years and I've never had beads do that except for when I first started and wasn't cooking them long enough. I have lost so many orders here lately because I couldn't get her stinking beads to work right. No, the problem isn't the weather, it's not the oils that we're using, it's her beads!

I just ordered some from Cajun Candles and hopefully that will work out. I have several people that have purchased some from me and I had to e-mail them and ask them if they wanted to wait or cancel their order because of this. I already have a 5-7 day wait for them to be ready since I only make them after they choose the shape and scent and to make them wait longer is aggravating.

Yes, I would appreciate it if you let me know how those beads you bought work out, I need a new supplier for sure!!

One tip I've learned about Cajun's beads. Add oil just like they tell you to, a little at a time. I always added all my FO at one time no matter who I bought beads from and I noticed on Cajun's beads, which are a little bigger, sometimes the oil wouldn't soak up at all. The last time I ordered from them I went back and read where they recommend adding a little at a time and it's worked out so much better. I let the beads soak up and then add a little more oil.

Thank you Belinda. I've been reading all the posts and don't know where to order from. I haven't ordered yet but want to tonight. Is it better to just make strong scents? I'm making organza bags. Can you make a lot of them with a pound?

I've never done any in organza bags but I do have some.

For a pound of beads you'll get 8-10 fresheners depending on the size of the cookie cutter. I would order beads from Nature's Gardens or Bitter Creek North. I have some Cajun beads that are doing ok too. They are the bigger beads and need to soak a little longer and bake a little longer but I still like them. Stay away from Aroma Beads Online. Their beads used to be great and at a great price but lately have been horrible. Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with!

I'm new to making aroma beads. Is it a good profitable thing to sell? Or do you have to sell a lot to make money? 4 ounces of fragrance is a lot. How many 1 oz. sachets can you sell in a pound? I haven't ordered any yet but a lady I know told me it pays great profits.

I sell quite a bit of fresheners and I'm not online yet. They sell well for me here. I had stated in my precious post that I was having problems with my oven or something but I figured out it was the beads. Be careful who you buy yours from. One company I ordered from regularly changed beads and they've given me nothing but trouble and others are having trouble with them too. Have you ordered beads yet?

Also on the ratio. I rarely have a fragrance that the beads will soak up 4 to 1. I usually start with about an ounce and a half to a pound, let that soak for a couple of days and then add another ounce, let them soak and then if I see they're going to be completely dry I might add a little more. Usually fragrances like leather and vanilla based will take longer to soak and you won't need as much.

When I first bought beads from her she asked what I was doing with them and I told her I wanted to make car freshies

And the more I think about this it makes me mad! What business is it of hers what you're going to do with the beads once you buy them! That's almost like a grocery store asking customers what they're going to make with their groceries while they're checking out! It's none of their business!

    GRRRR! She is something!

  17. 22 hours ago, cswilson said:

Shes's not a very friendly person to deal with. She's been rude and demanding the couple of times I've dealt with her. She promotes her son's business on her page. When I first bought beads from her she asked what I was doing with them and I told her I wanted to make car freshies. She said well my son makes them too and you can just buy them from him. I said thank you but I want to make them myself and then she said well he makes candles too do you want any of those. Again, I said no thank you and she said well you can look him up online at Kavon's candles if you're interested. I guess he's the one that makes the freshies but I've never looked his business up because I'm not interested in buying from him.

I don't think the heat gun would work because the loose beads are all in the middle of the freshie. The top and bottom are melted but not the inside, it's just weird how it could melt the top and bottom but not the middle.

I won't be wasting anymore of my money buying from her for sure!

Well they've defiantly lost me as a customer as well. I've never dealt personally with her. I've only ordered from their etsy store and have corresponded with her a couple of times via message on facebook but that's all. She usually seems to be "helpful" when someone asks a question in the group but it's always they have the best beads etc. She never asks anyone where they buy their beads but she defiantly says theirs are the best. The only reason I started buying theirs in the first place is because they were such good beads and had the best prices around. Now they are terrible!

Have you tried the beads from NG? I have some soaking and they're the smaller beads like Margie carries but I haven't baked them yet to see how they bake. I'll try to do that today and get back with you. They're higher but it'll be worth it if they bake right.

They will defiantly recommend using a heat gun or playing with your oven temps if you were to ask them why your beads were doing that. It would never be because they are crap beads.

And what nerve saying you could just buy your fresheners from her son! Trust me, if her son made the one I ordered you don't want to sell those as your product! I don't know if he made it or her husband made it but it's terrible!

Belinda actually, that is the only thing I have ever ordered from them( Birthday Cake) besides the Cinnamon and Spruce other than that never dealt with them.  Actually I just went to their site to check out how much Birthday cake was and they are out of stock.

    Trappeur

It smells so good! I still have a little bit left and you can actually smell cake in it or at least to my nose.
