Could someone direct me in the right direction to what ever supplier I need to go to get a color of this teal cancer color emblem as I will be coloring some candles.  I used to use liquid dye b/4 I went all natural so I would like to stick with liquid.

    Thanks.

Peak has a color named teal that looks VERY much like this.

  2. Maybe consider other reasons for melts not selling on Etsy outside of just the scents. Etsy is all about the marketing images, branding, feedback and a handmade look, among other things. This is also along the lines of what TallTayl mentioned.

I know many, many people who have build highly successful wax based businesses really quick, starting on Etsy. But you have to stand out because this is a highly saturated market. I think it's about so much more than just scent types offered.

WSP + Peak in particular put up ALL feedback. Good ,bad or indifferent. I like that in a company . To me it shows that they are aware that not everyone will

have the same results with their FO etc and are fine with that. Both have exceptional oils, of course they have duds like everyone else but in general I really

like their oils + both have very good customer service. I find ICS does this as well, not posting bad or so so reviews, thats wrong in my opinion. If they're

willing to lie or be deceitful about something like a review what else would they lie about. Of course this is only my opinion.

Regardless of what my testing reveals, I do agree Moonstar, that what RE does with the reviews makes me uncomfortable. I too think exactly as you said....if they are deceitful about that system, what other lies could there be? It raises a question in my mind, to say the least. Thanks for your feedback!

This was more of a coulda had a v-8 knock on the side of the head moment, @Moonstar

really. It was. It makes zero sense how a vendor could cut only certain bottles or things when they have thousands to keep track of. Sometimes the problem is right in our own homes.

Thank you for thinking about this for soooo long, and further, taking the time to respond. I agree that this does make tons more sense and like Moonstar I do totally trust you and your opinion. I will think about this further and try to do some testing around this idea. Believe me, I want what you're saying to be the truth, as I love soooo many of RE's oils. One thing that I didn't think of until you mentioned this is I got a brand new HVAC system in January, which is more powerful in many ways than the previous one. Not long after this is when I started having the issues. I want to go back to those small bottles once again now, as you have suggested. Thank you so much for your input!

Since this post, I have gone out and bought oils from other suppliers trying to compare. I don't have any solid findings just yet cause I'm still testing, but I will know more soon. Regardless, more testing could never be a bad thing....right?!

    Many thanks....seriously!!

  5. It looks like the 220 will be the closest match to the 135, but I don't think any can really be compared to the old waxes me necessarily. Heard from a supplier today that's it's a new system, new technology completely. That is exactly how she described....guess maybe we can figure out what that means in time.

  6. Yeah, I reached out to them a few months back and she said they don't do anything smaller than what is offered on their website. Even for testing. I didn't rally like her email or her attitude toward the issue either. So I am still on the fence. It's just such a large amount to buy for testing!!  I don't know what to do!

They do say it's a proprietary blend to them. But yet, RE says the same thing about thier KY Tart wax and I recently found out the 650 from Flaming Candle is the exact same wax, from the same manufacturer. So I was just think maybe this one was the same way. Thanks for the advise!

  7. Does anyone out there have any experience with JS123 container wax?

Or better yet.....is this wax sold somewhere else under a different name/supplier?

Ive been interested in testing this wax for many different reasons, but they only sell it in huge bulk.....50lbs!  $100 plus shipping just for me to test this wax!  I was wondering is this wax worth that??

Thanks for your help, as always!  ?

I'm honestly not sure how many waxes I would like to use yet, but I have blended these two together and it wasn't the appearance I desired.  I am not sure if I want to start messing around with 3 waxes in each blend, but never can tell at this stage.  I think I may be playing with wax blends for a long time to come even though it's already been quite awhile since I started.

I totally understand. I do think the mixing of these two will require a double pour....that is kind of where I am right now too. So I get what you're going through. Some days are good. Some not as much.

In all honesty, my hypothesis is that the soy issue that was announced by ecosoya is actually industry wide. Ecosoya was the only place forthcoming with the facts.

very few plants process soy beans for all soy uses. The changes made to comply with the FDA requirements span the entire soy wax, oil, etc. base. Soy wax by chandlers is a secondary market. Ever read the uses on many soy waxes having food as an intended use? Each soy wax brand buys buys from the same pool, just like every brand of paper clip we buy is made at one of two factories, KWIM.

We are ALL facing problems burning these new batches regardless of the brand.

What issues did Ecosoya cop to?  I didn't hear this.

  10. Silicone is porous and does pull some of the wax through to the underside of the mold. I pop the mold in the micro for a few seconds and wipe off the underside off with a cloth.

My molds do hold scent as you have suggested, but I have never had a scent transfer to a new batch of melts and I never clean them with anything. Actually, I tried to clean them in the very beginning and nothing worked, nothing took away the scent. I have even put them in the dishwasher, but the water drops dried on them and left a spotty residue and transferred to my next melts. All in all, I really don't find that cleaning is necessary.   And I certainly haven't found anything that works well enough to be worth the time invested in cleaning them.

Right now, you can smell the scent you just poured in them, but as you use them more and more, where all scents are absorbed, you can no longer smell the previously poured scent. Now mine just seem to be a mix of every scent I've ever poured in them and I can't make out any particular scent.

The pour temp only helped a little, (I dropped the pour temp down to 145-150)  but did not smooth out the tops. And yes, the tops just look awful huh? Only way I could fix the issue was blending with another wax. The scent hold/throw is fine with the wax it's just the tops look terrible. Didn't take much on the blend, to do 4 clams I used only 2oz of a blender wax (have used KY and ProBlend) with 8oz of the lp416 and my coconut oil I always blend in and they turned out great. I'm still working on that scent list I told you I'd get, Moonshine... Been getting ready for our annual pig roast and have been swamped making sprays. Just wanted to let you know I haven't forgot about you. ?

What type of coconut oil do you use?

  12. In the case of 6006, imo, the pour temp and cooling are more about the aesthetics of the wax. I find this wax to be very forgiving in all areas. I do cover mine while cooling, just with a sheet of paper, to take away the drafts. But honestly I have never had anything other than smooth tops with it. I do it just as a precaution more than anything else. Covering won't keep any of the oil from burning off, but it does help with the look of some of the waxes I work with (not particularly 6006 tho).

  13. Imo, you need to be pouring well over 160 rid the wet spots and your other issues. I would suggest 175 at a minimum. 6006 is a forgiving wax, it is NOT at all like working with straight soy. I'm fact, it acts more like a paraffin than a soy wax and also it tends to shrink more than other typical greasy "container" waxes. I can get it to fully release for tarts when I poor it cooler.....around 140.....Pouring it cooler will make your wet spots worse for sure.

After a year of learning candle making and reading these posts, I was ready to put my candles out there.  I recently got a small shelf at an antique/craft consignment shop and was ready to produce a few dozen candles.  I have poured and tested my orange candles and thought I had this problem licked, but I guess I was wrong!

    The Wax is IGI 6006

    1 oz of fragrance

    1 drop of color

    Added fragrance at 185

    Poured at 165

    Room temp was 71

Jars were heated in oven before pouring

The candle with the hole was left to solidify on a tray at least 4" from the other candles.  No towels were used.

The candle with no hole was wrapped loosely with kitchen towels - but wasn't able to cover the whole jar, just the bottom 2/3.

Both candles have wet spots - ugh!  And because of holes on the first batch, I'm always nervous about holes being in the perfect looking candles!

Is there anything I can do to save the candles with the holes?  If I poke small holes with a cake tester and repour some wax, will that fix it?  Can I do anything about the wet spots?

It looks like I need to wrap the jars while cooling (what a pain) - so any suggestions on what to use besides dish towels?  (Using the towels caused me to knock a few wicks off center)

Any help or suggestions is much appreciated!  I have put SO much money into this - at this point I have to at least give it a shot :)
