  1. Those are just beautiful. outstanding work. Steve
  2. Dollar Tree sells seconds or worse. Besides, $1.00 per container or 2 for $1.00 for smaller ones is expensive. Find a restaurant supply and piggy back some glass. HTH Steve
  3. Try 85% 6006 and 15% soy (of your choice) and pour at 185 degrees into room temp jars and leave uncovered. Try a cd 10 in that sucker and see how you like it. Use 6% fo up to 8% for lighter fos. HTH Steve
  4. It ain't soy or any kind of soy I've ever seen. Do people make gel on top soy on bottom candles? Why?
  5. The position of those wicks would appear too near the sides of the container which would make it hotter than the surface of the sun? The melt pool is about mmmm 1 1/2 inches deep and the flare on that one wick may mean it hit a pocket of fo or diesel fuel. Not good IMHO. Steve
  6. Yes Babs, took it to Paypal resolution center. No response yet. Business has been really weird and kinda as usual. Had a good summer but a nothing fall and began to worry when my Christmas accounts hadn't called in their orders and then it all hit at once (so typical). So I've been taking vacation days and pretty much working daylight to dark. Just now closed up the workshop after two pretty gross batches of soap, oh well. I got down my wooden box/log mold which is lined with foam and poured up a strange brew indeed. Ran short of sweet almond and had to come back and recompute the formula. Placed a piece of acrylic down the middle like I was gonna do a mantra swirl and colored one side with French green clay and the other side with Moroccan red clay and then dropped in two different sized round imbeds and did a pencil line and then covered the top with red and green jojoba beads and a bunch a damn glitter. It should be interesting. The other batch accelerated before I could get it in the Kelsei but its in there. Tis the season, scuse me for being an ass. Nighty night, Steve
  7. Cypress barn wood sounds like a good idea until you try to cut it. Not to mention getting the urine and feces smell, as well as, the numbers of insects who call it home out of the wood. Ask me how I know.
  8. My problem is with someone making a business deal and then breaking it. I don't have time to make a wood box and lid when there are orders to be filled KWIM? The company shouldn't have taken my money a month ago and refuse to answer my email inquiries and then casually say, "Oh maybe about January". I understand reject wood. It has knot holes, warped, and other assorted blemishes and it is cheap. I expect my money to go for first rate materials and you know, $93.00 doesn't scream thrift store to me. I wanted this mold and looked for some sign of it everyday, while making embeds, formulas and buying up different items to go with the mold but that might have been avoided by a simple and courteous email.
  9. Ordered a Silvermoon log mold the first of October and just found out that (after taking my money) they can't make the box or lid until January! Needless to say I canceled my order and hope there isn't a hassle with getting my money back. I am so disappointed and completely baffled why they didn't tell me from the beginning. They offered to send me the liner but stated that they use reject wood to make the boxes and lids and won't get any until January. Reject wood? I am one unhappy puppy.
  10. Well if the truth be known, Hobby Lobby sells you wax at retail cost with local tax and if you were to buy that same wax from a wholesaler; you would probably come close to the same amount due to shipping. Some of the distributors offer free or reduced shipping if you buy over a certain amount and this is a great deal IMHO. Buy a kit or a slab/bag for testing and catch someone who is having a sale on 1-2 oz testers and go from there. This is an expensive hobby and totally addictive. It all seems simple but none of the forms are simple or easy. Whether you are looking at making container, votive, pillar, tarts or smellies; they all have their glitches and learning curve. I advise a paraffin votive kit for the best starter experience. Steve
  11. Academy Sports has Cajun turkey fryers marked down to $49.99! That's half price, get em while you can.
  12. I wish! How about those small organza baby shower bags at wally world (pink/blue) and take your regular bars and quarter them and then plane the little bars and put a hang tag with your label? How many will you have to make? HTH Steve
  13. Beautiful work Babs. What does your blend smell like? Steve
  14. Jack Frost and Nutcracker. Just poured Tinsel, Gingerbread Brulee', Pineapple Brulee', Apple Jack and Peel, Hansel and Gretel, Caribbean Christmas and Vanilla Bean Noel. I can't believe that AH/RE didn't carry ky's apple jack....grrrrr. Steve
  15. Wow what a great fragrance from ng! I poured a case of candles and love this fresh minty blend of pom, strawberry and peppermint. Can't wait to soap it. Does anyone have any comment on nutcracker from ng? TIA Steve
  16. Save it for Valentines and use it in some m&p and make some heart candles. Guys don't know any better and buy whatever smells fem or sexy.
  17. Hansel and Gretel's House from Tennessee Candle Supply Tiinsel from Nature's Garden Christmas Past from KY at AH/RE Vanilla Bean Noel from Tennessee Candle Supply Apple Jack and Peel from KY at AH/RE Sparkling Peppermint (Blend of 50/50 Peppermint and Pomegranate) Peppermint Cream (Blend of 50/50 Peppermint and Vanilla Bean Noel) I like to use a little Vanilla Voodoo from Candle Coccoon to make the Noel really rich Creme Brulee' from KY at AH/RE Pineapple Brulee (blend of 50/50 KY Pineapple Supreme and Creme Brulee') HTH Steve
  18. Yup. When it was Alabaster Candle Supply it was called APOP but now it's CPOP (Community) clever huh? I tried that wax and didn't care for it. I suppose its the same formulation but you would need to get a slab and see what you think. It was supposed to be their version of 223, if I remember right. CPOP is an anacroynm for Cold Process Oven Process where you put your soap in the oven to get a full gel. HTH Steve
  19. Oh I got the way coolest boxes for my cupcakes and cake slices. Great prices and they have the windows from the top down the side in the front. I bought 25 with the adjustable holders (cupcakes) and 25 without the holders (cake slices). So cool I just had to share. BakeABox.com. Check them out. Steve
  20. "Walmart GV All-Vegetable Shortening" is the same as an older version of Crisco. It is primarily made using partially hydrogenated soybean and cottonseed oils and comes in a 48 oz paper can. In SoapCalc use "Crisco, old". This information is in the FAQ part of the site. HTH Steve
  21. I have pumpkin souffle' from tcs (tennessee) and gingered pumpkin from jbn (hoarding it) and they are totally different IMHO. The gingered pumpkin is peppery and the souffle' is sweeter. I like to mix both with creme brulee' and have no idea what will take their place when its gone. My fall season has really disappeared (I think it stays too warm for people to get the fall thing going) and mostly jump into the christmas season. HTH Steve
  22. Do you use much pine in that blend Chris? I just can't sell a berry anything in this area and it drives me crazy. I'm stuck with anything creme brulee (Pineapple is huge) and anything coconut (ng caribbean). I call it Caribbean Christmas and tell how the elves blend Santa a smoothie to calm his stress. I just got my christmas tree farm order and am backed up on most everything else. I'm trying out ng nutcracker and tinsel and taking the ky christmas past off the list cause it didn't sell last year. Vanilla Bean Noel, Hansel/Gretel and a few others are best sellers but who knows? That apple jack might be a good blend with the christmas past. Hmmm thankd Chris, I think you just helped me solve my problem. Steve
