It should be fine. When you're ready to use it, set in it a container of warm water with the lid off. Let it warm up and the crystals should dissolve. If they don't dissolve then contact the supplier.
Ugh, I wish I'd have known this before printing over 30 pages of mixed scent labels a couple of weeks ago. I just tried it and it's perfect. Thank you all so much for this info.
I got my order yesterday. Hey, MA, my order number was 1528. I got all 3 pounds of the goddess and I got Smoky Mt Christmas Tree. What a nice pine scent OOB. Actually, it's a good pine scent OTB (On The Box), a little bit leaked.
For my recipe, the oils change color 3 times. They are kind of tan and get creamy colored when the lye is added. Then, as soon as that happens, I watch for another color change to a lighter shade of cream. Then about 3-4 minutes of stick blending and the color starts to lighten again. This is when trace is starting for me and I can lift the stick blender out of the mixture and the drops stay on the surface for a moment before it goes smooth again. You can tell when that happens. It's hard to visualize but you will recognize that point when it happens.
At my show on Saturday I was right next to the Home Interiors lady. At the end of the show they passed around a questionaire asking how they could improve the show next year...LOL
I've never seen one but I had an order for 30 guest size soaps. I used my log mold then used my misty creek type slab mold to do the cutting. I cut the log in half lengthwise, then cut those into 1/2" pieces. My slab mold was made using a bandsaw for the cut lines and they are just wide enough for the blade so the cuts are perfect every time. You could do the same thing with several logs at a time.
I use 4627 and don't really find it messy at all. When I open a new case I open the bag, use a box cutter and cut from the bottom corners up to the top. Then fold the sides of the bag down. Then I use an 8" putty knife to cut the wax into slices. When I've filled my presto I fold the sides back up and put the wax back in the box. Wipe your hands on a paper towel and your ready to go. No problems. I mix mine with soy also but I use more 4627 than soy.
Shea grainyness is actually pretty easy for me to explain to customers. I tell them that it is little bits of shea and they will melt right onto your skin providing all the wonderful benefits of shea without the greasyness, etc. Like Henry Ford said, "If you can't fix it, feature it"
Thanks PA. I have very little experience with M&P. It is a 2lb log mold. She wants to do 1/4" layers of white and red scented with peppermint. She saw it in a Marth Stewart magazine. You think M&P weighs about the same as CP? I would have thought it was lighter than CP but I could be way off. I told her to get 4lbs of each for 3 batches of soap. Also, the non-migrating color from WSP. Is that a good color choice?
Is there a formula for M&P, like for CP, to find the volume of a mold. My sister wants to make some layered M&P for Christmas gifts and wants to use my log mold. It is 10.5 x 3 and and she wants the soaps 3/4" thick and 2 inches high. I need to order M&P and need to know how much to order. Can anyone help me?
Anyone know where it went? Bunny wrote it and I was trying to refer someone to it but I can't find it now. I thought it was a sticky somewhere. Am I blind or is it un-sticky now?
