  1. I use the black australian clay from KB. It's always black and stays black. Sorry, I haven't tried oxides.
  2. I have some, I have left overs from a coop a few months ago. PMing you.
  3. It's not quiet but I bought a plastic tote at wal-mart then put one slab of wax in, beat it into small pieces with a hammer. Then put another slab in and beat that one until the whole case is broken up. It keeps all the wax in one place and the chips stay contained, for the most part. It also makes it easy to store a full case of wax yet be able to access it any time you like.
  4. There was a big change after the board crashed. I think that's when Alan handed the reins to Sara. I'm sure Sara can give more detailed and accurate information. Carebear, on the old board, co-ops from other suppliers were not allowed if they directly competed with Peak. It was only after the board changed over was that allowed.
  5. Wow, if those are gelluminations photos and the products are wholesaled from gelluminations, I wonder why so many of the wicks on the gel candles are crooked? Is gelluminations selling inferior product or just taking pictures of the worst gel candles?
  6. The babassu is wonderful in soap, it makes great bubbles like coconut without the dryness. I've never thought of using it in butters, it looks too much like tallow.
  7. Make sure when you do the advanced search that you mark the "posts" option at the bottom left. This returns all results as posts not threads. It's easier to find what you're looking for. LOL...One time, I must have been very bored, I searched the phrase "what is fbb". It came back immediately with the answer. I did the same for "what is IPM"
  8. I use the 7/8 loofah. The precut, or I cut my own. I've done it both ways. My next trick is to use CP.
  9. I have a log mold that is a B**ch to get the soap out. I line my mold but when I pour at thin trace some soap leaks out the corners. Then, when it's time to unmold, the soap is stuck in the mold. Then next mold I bought had two hinged sides, it makes it much easier to get the stuck soap out.
  10. Some EO's can be very dangerous. Some can cause miscarriage, some shouldn't be used by people with heart conditions etc. Be very careful and research each one. That said, the word natural is an unregulated word to the FDA. You can put FO in something and call it natural. It isn't ethical but it's legal.
  11. I wouldn't do them without plenty of insurance. It doesn't make sense to me to tell people to pour hot wax on their bodies. Just my opinion though.
  12. Searching with "MP" and "M&P" will give you just about as many hits in the soaping section as the word "dye" in the candle making section. You'll probably learn a bunch of other great techniques for M&P while you're at it.
  13. http://www.soapdishforum.com/soapsaver/auctiondetails.php?itemname=eliptical-oval-lip-balm-fillin-tray-flush-fill&id=116560 There's a link to one of the filling trays at soap saver. I've used his mold for round lip balms, it works fine.
  14. Those tray molds make a wierd size soap. IMO Try a shoe box or a flat rate box and see if you like making soap. I went to Michaels and bought a couple of unfinished jewelry boxes and used those for my first batch.
  15. I slice mine and place them in individual molds, then pour. They are so hard to cut that I would probably ruin the soap just trying to cut it.
  16. That doesn't look like ash, that's what my soaps look like when they come out of the oven. I don't put soap in the oven much anymore. Let's see what it looks like tomorrow.
  17. OK, here's a picture of the soap just out of the mold. Here is the same soap (different bar) a week later. The FO discolored and the ash really enhanced the soap.
  18. Actually, ash usually enhances the swirls. Just wait a couple of days, you may like it. I like the ash on my swirls. I'll look for a before and after of some swirls before gel and after ash. It's amazing. (I'll post if I can find them)
  19. http://www.soapmaker.ca/download.htm Try this page for the free trial version.
  20. She says full photo instructions are included.
  21. I guess that would rely entirely on the recipe, or who you bought it from. Is there a supplier involved here? Maybe you could email the supplier.
