  1. I am now using 3.5lbs in my 16 bar misty creek. They weren't fitting in my soap boxes so I reduced the batch size.
  2. I use about 2oz less water to mix my lye, then add ice if it's still too hot. I don't wanna have lye around for a day or so.
  3. Do you remember where that story was posted. It was a crafters website, I read the story over a year ago and I think it was old then. Maybe RobinInOr will remember.
  4. Anyone know where to find the story of the lady that made up her lye in a pitcher and her husband took a drink of it. I never did find what happened to him, did he live?
  5. You can put strawberry seeds in your soap if you can get them to suspend. You can get strawberry seeds at http://www.thesage.com/catalog/Botanicals.html
  6. I would just use lard. It's cheap and way easier, no cleaning or straining. There are tons of lard recipes out there. Good luck.
  7. There is no flat rate to Turkey. There is however flat rate to militay personel stationed outside of the US. They get regular US shipping rates.
  8. Think of all the suppliers out there that have their own brand of wax. I'd say most of them buy what everyone else has and give it their own name. Go to Candlewic and try to find any of the regular waxes you hear about. You won't find them. They re-name all the wax they sell. If your supplier gets you to use wax ABC and your get it locally, when you go to find it at another company you can't, they now have you backed into a corner. Order from your regular supplier again or re-test everything. This is business, not misleading. Safeway sells a ton of products under the name Safeway Select. You know, I've seen the exact same products in Wal-Mart marketed under the walmart brand name. Same exact packaging, just a different name. Everyone does it.
  9. Did you happen to ask if they'd hold your order until the FO came in. I've done that before during a big sale. It was the scent works and they had no problem holding the order for me.
  10. Why not? If my candles aren't good enough for other chandlers, they aren't good enough to sell at all.
  11. I made up a gift basket for a friend for Christmas. I thought it was pretty. It has a golden shea lip balm, shea/golden shea whipped butter, body spray, lotion and a goddess soap.
  12. LOL, I did that once. I learned to always ask if it's flake. Never again will I buy non-flake.
  13. I soaped AWE Drakkar and they came out perfect. Sorry that happened to you, it may just be the FO. The FO from AWE never discolored a bit and is a dead on dupe in my soap.
  14. Shutter, was it part of a swap or just something someone sent to you?
  15. I melt MP at 30% power at 30 second intervals, stirring well in between. I don't make huge batches but this keep mine from overheating.
  16. I may have sent a shea mango butter in LLC but I wouldn't have dated the jar. I made a lot of shea butter in LLC in the beginning of the year.
  17. I don't think I'd buy naked soaps. I've watched too many people come up to my soaps and stick it ON thier nose and smell. It's so unsanitary. Yuck. I do like the idea of wrapping the soap and keep one out for sniffing.
  18. I take them to the local joke shop. They are forever mailing stuff out and they are big ebayers so they gladly take all I don't need.
  19. The-Sage sells the oil and the butter. Click the link, about 1/2 way down the page. The Sage
  20. WTG Trish. Hey, I need some awesome pillars for my new house. I'll pm you.
  21. Bramble Berry sells a box like that. They call it a sliding drawer soap box. http://brambleberry.com/packaging.html It's the sixth item down.
  22. I went to Michaels and bought a ton of cookie cooling racks that are stackable. I put them on the top of my book cases, it's warmer near the ceiling. The racks were on sale for I think $5 for 3 racks.
  23. Actually, I gave some melts to my folks for christmas several years ago. My mom keeps them in the guest bath and hits them with a blow dryer occasionally, just long enough to make the smell come back.
