  1. I don't know if they have a store front. I'm not in Oregon, I just order from them occasionally. Sorry, I don't know.
  2. Yes, don't forget in the US there are 2 different types of ounces. There are ounces and fluid ounces. Fluid ounce is measure by volume, like cups or gallons. Ounces are weight and are always measured on a scale.
  3. I could have sworn I read that 4 quarters in 1oz. Hmmm Anyway, for your water I'd just round it to the nearest 10th. 18.2 or 18.3 or 1lb 2.2oz. Does that make sense? For the lye, I'd round down. Pour the lye very very slowly, a few grains at a time until the scale switches from 6.7 to 6.8. That is close enough and will barely up your superfat. With 6.8oz of lye you are probably making at least a 2lb batch and this is close enough. edit: After reading mag's post I think you should find out if the scale is acurate. Try it again with a different quarter. If your scale is that off, your soap could be dangerous.
  4. No wonder I get so many bubbles, I use CO, PKO, Babassu and castor in my recipe.
  5. I think we are all confused about the way your scale measures. If you put one quarter on the scale, what does the weight say in oz and in grams? If it says something like .25 then we'll know more how to help you. If it says 1 or 0 then you need a different scale.
  6. SFIC is in Concord California, Bramble Berry is in Bellingham Washington and Glory Bee is in Eugene Oregon. All of them sell M&P soap.
  7. No, the oatmeal isn't put into the lye calc. If you are using the calculator at MMS, there is a section to list additives and a section for notes. I always list all additives and then clear the note section. I handwrite notes in that area, like if the FO seized, if I didn't like the soap, if it was drying, too scrubby. That way I have a reference next time.
  8. I saw on another forum that someone tried those bottles and the sprayer glopped instead of sprayed. Hope yours work better.
  9. You might also want to get an oven thermometer. The oven in the new place may be off.
  10. LynnS, you can learn more about shea butter at Agbanga Karite. They tell you what it is made of, how it is made. It is very interesting.
  11. I've never made the bohunk recipe but I've used it. It is a little too stiff for me. I whip my scrub until it is light and fluffy and it stays that way in the jar. I add extra sugar and crystalized sugar for extra scrub. Maybe you could lower the ewax a tiny bit and whip it longer at the end. Mine almost quadruples in size from it's liquid state.
  12. AK is Agbanga Karite. I am only one state away from them and the shipping is good. I did notice on the site today that the prices went up. I sent off an email to AK this morning asking about availability of the shea. I figure I'll coop a max of 200lbs. I'm waiting on an answer before I start the coop. I think the price will be just over $4/lb including shipping to me. I also asked them to figure the hundred weight shipping so it may come out even cheaper. We'll see.
  13. I was making some sugar scrub this weekend and you'll never guess what I saw...I am so sad (so is my bank account) I saw the bottom of my shea bucket. My 20lbs of unrefined AK shea is almost gone. I think I'm gonna have to do another coop and get some more. I'm so very sad.
  14. I don't know how many recipes I tried, probably about 8. I tweaked a recipe a few times, found some oils that I definately like using and have stayed with them. I have a good balance of bubbles and lather that I'm happy with, the bar isn't drying and it hardens up nicely.
  15. Are you talking about a product that you spray in your nose or just spritz in the shower stall. IMO if it's for the nose I wouldn't go there.
  16. LOL, remember the Jergens almond hand lotion. I always thought it smelled like cherry. To this day I don't like almond extract...Yuck. I don't think OMH smells that much like Jergens though.
  17. I love to make bath salts. Those are great jars, are they plastic?
  18. I have been saying this about "Natural" for a long time. People keep posting about natural products. Everything and anything can legally be called natural.
  19. Sea salt is extremely cheap in the bulk foods section of my local grocery store. I wouldn't compromise product or safety with a product I wasn't sure about. Go buy new and save the mushy for products just for you.
  20. I emailed WSP about the tracking. Karen advised "UPS is still redesigning and changing their corparate tracking system. Anytime you need a tracking number, just let me know." Just send an email requesting the tracking number. HTH
  21. Go for 3 if it makes you feel better. I was swirl impaired for so long, then all of a sudden it just started to work. Just keep trying. I made ugly blobby soaps for about a year before my swirls started to work.
  22. I love this mold. It is the first mold I grab. My second favorite is my 9 bar kelsei for smaller test batches. My recipe is a 4lb batch which I'm going to cut down to 3.5lbs for the mold. The soaps are about 1/4 inch too thick for my soap boxes and I have to shave them down.
  23. OK, I posted the pic in the gallery.
  24. OK, Here it is. For the SW swap. It is Earl Grey & Honey with black and gold mica swirls. It isn't cleaned up yet and is a little oily and kinda soft. I love my Misty Creek mold, BTW. I'm not a photographer and sorry in advance if this is huge...LOL
  25. Thanks for the tip. I just bought a set of 4 molds with pusher and stand. I can't wait to try this.
