  1. Bramble Berry Lime turned a nice flourescent yellow for me.
  2. I can get citric acid at the local beer making store. I did get some but found even with shipping it was cheaper to get it online.
  3. That shouldn't have been a problem. I believe they were thinking that the chunks were solid chunks of coconut. If you melted until almost all of it was liquid they would melt also. I usually melt my oils until almost all are melted then SB them until they are all melted. Then I add my lye. Did you add the FO before or after it got like cottage cheese? Did you finally get it to trace? Did you get it in the mold and insulated. Come on, curious here.
  4. I just bought some of the Gee your hair smells terrific in a pre-buy. I can't wait to get it in wax.
  5. Yes, on the FO, up to 1oz per pound is a good starting place. Did you add the fo and then it got like cottage cheese?
  6. When I was playing with pillars, I tried to pre-twist the wick for use with a wick pin. I dipped the wick until the bubbles stopped then pulled the wick out and twisted until the twist was as tight as I could get it. Held for a few seconds for the wax to set. They stayed twisted but were a bugger to get in the hole. I think that was the point I gave up on pillars. I probably still have some of those pillars and the wicks aren't even blackened yet.
  7. I've used over 30% and it was a wonderful bar. I can't find the recipe though. I did ask around I was given a couple of recipes. GG, if you want them, pm me.
  8. If it is soapable you can send it to me. Otherwise. yeah, flush some down the toilet every week or so. I'd look on the container and see what the manufacturer suggests. It is a drain cleaner.
  9. It looks fine but with an impulse sealer and a heat gun it is soooooo easy. Even with bags instead of tubing. Put your soap in the bag/tube, seal the open end, and heat with the heat gun. Easy.
  10. You don't mention who the supplier is. The supplier is your best source of this type of information. They are the ones that can tell you what and how much to add and not compromise the integrity of the preservatives.
  11. These are bands, like cigar bands. They do not cover the soap ends. If you have an impulse sealer you could try, like eugenia said, the shrink tubing. Don't you want people to be able to smell your soap?
  12. I emailed OM and was told that hopefully the fo's would be in stock by Friday and Jennifer will post on the boards when they are back on the site.
  13. IMO, the lavender smells nothing like real lavender. It is an OK scent just not truly lavendery. The lavender vanilla is another nice scent but again, no real lavender scent. I do love the perfect pear in B&B and tarts, I haven't tried it in a candle yet. As a matter of fact I have some JS fo's for sale here.
  14. I got mine unstained. I've done a pretty good job of staining the corners where my soap leaks sometimes...LOL I have the one that is pegged and hinged.

  16. I never read this the first time around. I use a piece of tile, 18 x 18, to pour votives and tarts on. There are always some spills and the wax pops right off of the tile. Also, I can heat the tile with my heat gun if I need something to cool more slowly. At the end of the day I take an old metal spatula and scrape the tile to get any larger pieces of wax off, then I use the heat gun and papertowels for finish cleaning it. Also, when the wax needs to cool before adding fo, I set the pour pot on the tile and it helps to cool it down.
  17. I use Dans Bands if I need to shrink wrap soap. Scroll down to Bar Soap Shrink Bands http://www.thesage.com/catalog/ShrinkWrap.html#BarSoapShrinkBands
  18. I've seen bad reviews. Check out the powder shakers. There are several bad reviews on those posted.
  19. Have you tried Bramble berry, Pourette, Glorybee? These are in Oregon and Washington.
  20. I use plain white sugar and Sanding Sugar, sometimes called crystalized sugar. It is used in baking and I get it at Safeway. I go to the bakery and ask to buy it there. They sell it to me by the pound. It is similar to turbinado but clear instead of brownish.
  21. I use black aussie clay and it is black.
  22. Yup, I have it saved to my desktop and I use it offline just like if it were online.
  23. To my hippy scent hating nose, NC and DB smell the same.
