  1. You are pouring too cool. You need to pour hot and let the wax cool very slowly. When the wax cools slowly you give the molecules time to line up, that's what makes the great pattern. Palm wax feathers better in aluminum than in reg metal molds. RRD wicks are the recommended wicks for palm. That said, I used to use #1SB for a 3 inch pillar and there are others on the board that use 24 or 30 (I think those are right) flat braid. I'd start with a #3SB and go up from there.
  2. Well if she didn't know before she ought to have it all figured out now! They are recipes that are posted at the Dish.
  3. Don't hang you hat on the words "All Natural". The word "natural" isn't regulated.
  4. Someone gave me a tip on the 4627. Go to the paint section of your favorite store and buy a putty type knife that is 8-12 inches wide. Take the bag out of the box and slit the corners. Peel the plastic back and with the putty knife cut blocks off of it. When you're done, fold the plastic back over the wax and put it back in the box. I also use a pie plate for weighing it before it goes into my presto. The pie plate and the putty knife go into a gallon ziploc and fit right down on top of the wax in the box. HTH
  5. Bunny, if it was in the archives, those are still up and unaffected.
  6. If a whipped butter is too greasy...IMO you are using too much. I rub a finger over the top of the butter until a little melts on my finger. That is enough for one hand. If you use the same amount of whipped butters as you use lotion, you will find it greasy. A teeny, tiny, itsy, bitsy bit of whipped butters goes a long way!
  7. I place mine infront of the heater vent. Now that it's summer I wonder if the AC will help or hurt the curing.
  8. Hey candle man, just curious, if she had ignored you one more time what size font would you have used the next time you asked?
  9. My chamomile, milk & honey went right into the fridge in the log and still did a partial gel. Funny looking bars with only partial gel.
  10. LOL...The pink ovals with words look like a mouth on the label. I think it's cute. Is that what you were going for?
  11. Personally, I am hesitant to sell anything without insurance. I don't want to lose my house because someone lit a votive on the table instead of a holder or someone was allergic to an ingredient in a lotion and broke out. Sorry, I am confident in my products but stupidity seems to win in court. It isn't worth it to me.
  12. Who ran the coop? As the coop hostess.
  13. Look at the top of the soapcalc for Soap Qualities.
  14. Thanks Rebecca IA, you saw it before I did. When I use the SL I use almost full water. I might discount by a couple of ounces.
  15. My soaps I make with mostly lard and RBO are very soft out of the mold unless I add SL, then they can come out in 18 hours but I still have to be careful with them.
  16. Thanks everyone. This was my first try at aussie clay. The jury is still out on how I like them, I can feel the clay. LOL...They are unmolded, I just set them back on the bottom part of the mold to take the picture. I'll take a closer picture of them maybe later today and post it.
  17. I haven't posted in the gallery in so long. This soap is scented Drakkar. I used black Aussie clay for coloring. This thing riced and traced so fast...
  18. I just like the surprise when the "clunk" happens. Lining them up would be anti-climactic, don't you think?
  19. LMAO, I always dump my peanuts into a trashbag and hang it on the wall in the garage. Well one day I went to get some peanuts out of the bag and when I set it on the floor I heard it cluck. I reached down and pulled out a Peak fo sample. I set the bag down and again, clunk. I reached in and pulled out another sample. I also found some wick tabs that I ordered and forgot about that made it in there. I just kept thinking "Thank goodness I forgot about them and didn't call the company and complain about them being missing from an order."...LMAO. That's another good reason to save the peanuts for re-use. You may find goodies in the bag when you re-use them.
  20. They sell the blue bag at the Costco near me. I can't remember the exact price but it was less than $5 for a 40 or 50 lb bag.
  21. Hey Val, I use bulgarian lavender from MMS and I like to use .7oz per pound. That would be 2.1oz but 1.5 should be enough. Mine is strong.
  22. Thank you, this was my first batch so your experience is very helpful.
