  1. I bet you couldn't do that again if you tried. Cool effect.
  2. Me too! I just finished a coop for it, the coop prices are usually at or just under $4 a pound.
  3. This is a good start. http://www.naturesgift.com/warnings.htm
  4. Hey Michi You can do this. Forget about what the hardness etc is. You have to make soap before you can calm down enough to advance. Playing with the lye is half the battle for a beginner. The rest will come with time. Remember making candles with your kit. You had a million questions but until you actually made a candle none of the answers really made a lot of sense. You can do it. Please, take bunny's advise and breathe and take AJ's advise and wear goggles. Have fun and can't wait to see what you come up with. You are soooo creative and artistic. You will do well with soaping, I'm sure of it.
  5. IMO you should contact the supplier. Without anyone knowing what generic base you are talking about, there is no way to know if it would compromise the preservative. The supplier is the best place to start.
  6. Not Sharon... She said it was from RE, Rustic Escentuals, Aroma Haven. They just bought out SoapNCandles. The Satsuma from RE/AH is an SNC fo. I have some of this FO and I have some of The Body Shop Satsuma sugar scrub and they are identical to my nose. HTH
  7. I seriously don't think it'll look better. Actually, a layer soap in Orange, uncolored and green would look nice. That orange with green swirl, Nasty. LMAO
  8. Ummm...Orange, it is an orange...LOL Or Green, yikes. Really, this is what I'm soaping next. I think orange soap with green swirls, waddya think?
  9. Please, please, please try it. Or email angie at SNC and ask her. She would still have the info, it was one of her oils. Her email is supposed to work till the end of the month. When you do try it let me know, that is the next one I wanted to soap.
  10. Was it at a thick trace when you poured it. I get some wierd swirls in my soap when I pour at thick trace. Sorry, that's my only guess.
  11. My mother always told me she didn't like my whipped shea that much because it was so greasy. So be it, I thought, I like it. One day I was at her house and put some on (I keep it with me always in my coat pocket) and she was intrigued by what I was doing. I put 2 fingers on the top of the butters and gently rubbed until a little bit melted on my fingers. Then I rubbed that on the backs of my hands. She couldn't beleive that was enough. She had been putting the same amount of whipped shea on her hands as she normally would lotion. That's why it was always so greasy, she was using enough for both legs on just her hands. LOL
  12. It is coconut 76 with FO. No subbing needed.
  13. Is that SLS or SLSa? Whichever it is, aren't those foaming agents? I don't use them so can't offer too much expaination.
  14. Heather, did you put any of your wonderful molds in my swap box? I'm jealous Mystical.
  15. I broke down and ordered last night. I can't wait to try this mold.
  16. I love gardenias. I lived in SoCal for a couple of years and had gardenia all the way around the yard. It was heaven when they were in bloom. I've been known to rub monoi oil on my wrists just to be able to smell it while at work. Yummy
  17. Mine is hard as a rock and I had to slice it up and let DS use it like a bar of soap.
  18. I thought I saw Sara (or someone) post to add a little cocoa powder to the vaniglia portion since it will darken anyway, then you can do the blind swirl with the reserved soap without cocoa powder. Did that make sense?
  19. I started with CP and have been adding items that I can make out of the CP ingredients, plus a few extras like FCO. It all depends on what interests you. I also started making pillars before anything else in candlemaking. I guess I always pick the hard stuff to start with
  20. LOL, I'm close to Robins but in my head it is fee'-noh-nip.
  21. Cyclomethicone. Most B&B suppliers carry it. I know MMS does.
  22. I put my butters in double wall jars. No one sees the bubbles.
  23. What are jewelweed sticks? Right now my favorite thing to make is still CP soap.
  24. I only use Agbanga Karite Unrefined shea butter. It is consistantly a good quality. I don't recognize your name so I hope it wasn't my shea coop you bought from. If it was please pm me.
