  1. Shutter, step away from the Bong!!!
  2. I gave some to a friend that loves Gardenia scent. I told her it was solid perfume. She was in heaven...LOL
  3. Sockmonkey, you just gave someone in Sweden a toll free number that is only good in North America...LOL. Laura, sometimes suppliers take a couple of days to email an answer to you. Be patient. If you don't hear back in a couple of days, I'd suggest trying a different supplier.
  4. I'd never make my own. Never. I buy it online. The last time I bought it there were no questions asked. I'd gladly give a little extra info to a supplier so I could buy online, if it makes it harder for the meth makers to get lye.
  5. What do you mean that you got streaks? I don't see anything.
  6. This is copied from the Sooz site. Iodine - As a general rule, the lower the number, the harder the bar and the less the conditioning qualities and vice versa. Definition: number of grams of iodine that will react with the double bonds in 100 grams of fats or oils. http://www.soapcalc.com/soapqualities.asp
  7. LOL Anna. I did kinda wonder... Anyway, I don't know about subbing one for the other, so I'll sit back and wait for someone else with more soaping knowledge to step in.
  8. Palm oil is from the palm (plant) and lard is rendered pig fat. Did you add an FO to your soap? FO's with vanilla will discolor soap.
  9. I never stack soap up like that. hehehe You know that rack that comes in the toaster oven, the mini cookie rack thing. That's what is on my bathroom counter. It only has about 10 soaps on it. It is the 2 flat rate boxes and the little priority mail box on the bathroom counter that are taking up so much space. It's times like this that being single has it's advantages. I can keep more crap stacked up on the bathroom counter because no one else needs to use the second sink...LOL
  10. I love that mold. I got one for make stepping stones for my new house. I haven't used it yet. Maybe it'll have to be a soap mold a few times before it gets cement in it.
  11. Why in the world do I keep doing that? I did it in the B&B Swap #1 also. I made my labels for the B&B Swap #2 and they say Carrie, I double checked.
  12. Hey, I think I see one of my soaps from the swap there, all the buds and seeds are gone though. Hehehehe. I am working on using all the items from 3 swaps right now. I have finished one CP swap, I'm 1/2 done testing the soaps from the CT CP swap and I am starting to dig into the scrubs etc from the CT B&B swap. I hope everyone is patient while I work thru every thing.
  13. I stopped using palm when I read about it separating and the problems involved when that happens. I haven't missed it.
  14. The difference for me is about $2 for 5 pounds. My time is worth more than the effort it takes and the extra time it takes to melt the chunks. JMO, but to me it's worth the extra $2.
  15. I remember. I'm just as excited to be making soap, just not as scared. Here's a link to my first soap. http://www.candletech.com/cgi-local/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=bandbgallery;action=display;num=1115593587;start=19#19 I still have 3 bars of this soap. It was 37.5% shea butter. It is a rock hard bar with tons of bubbles and lather. I'm still proud of it. Oh yeah, the scent is still as strong today as it was 9 months ago. I'm still a newbie to CP...LOL
  16. For me, the difference in cost is worth not having to break up the PKO.
  17. When I first wanted to try handmade soaps and scrubs I posted right here also.
  18. LOL Gerrie, I actually got 2 shipping notices, sadly I only got one package but it had everything I ordered in it. I also got a package from Brambleberry on Friday. :tiptoe:
  19. I got an order from the sage just yesterday. I ordered on Sunday and it arrived on Thursday. If I'm not careful I would get in a bunch of trouble, MMS, Brambleberry and Glory Bee are all just one state away.
  20. I buy OO Pomace for $13.50 a gallon at a local grocery store in the bulk aisle.
  21. There was a thread on this just about a month ago. http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13662&highlight=buying+group
  22. I'm pretty sure I read at the dish that it turns brown in soap.
  23. I kdon't know, but I try to keep vinegar around when soaping. I have never been burned by lye (knock on wood) but just in case.
