  1. CT is this board, CandleTech The Whisk is another B&B/Candle forum. Just google The Whisk forum and it should come up.
  2. That's funny Bunny, I was wondering how you got the top to do that. heheheh. I'm glad you're soaping again. What's next?
  3. I like the look of the square bar. I have some soap cut in squares but I decided to use soap boxes so they won't work. I like the red color and the swirls look good even if they are just on top.
  4. I do all of my B&B at my mothers in her basement. It is an unfinished basement and isn't heated. This time of year it is about 60* down there. The shea and mango butters are just too darn hard to whip without melting.
  5. I've been wondering this myself. Thank you for the explanation, I get it now.
  6. I haven't heard any good things about Mabel White company.
  7. I made 2 soaps today. One I posted in the gallery, the other is plain but should be great. I made a 2lb batch of chamomile milk & honey. I used chamomile tea for my lye water and added raw silk, then I added 1tbs of honey to my warm oils, then added goat milk powder to the grapeseed oil and added at light trace. I then covered with plastic wrap and put it in the fridge. I looked at it 2 hours later and it is gelling in the middle. I knew milk and honey were hot, but to gel in the fridge after 2 hours. Wowzer. I thought the fridge would make it so it didn't gel.
  8. I hope these swirls go all the way through. This is so gorgeous and smells devine. It is SNC Fresh Cut Tulips with a purple mica that turned raspberry colored in the raw soap. The first picture is just before I put it in the oven for CPOP the 2nd picture is full gel after 2 hours at 170*. I added raw silk to the lye water and goat milk powder to one of the oils and added it at light trace. Here it is cut. Also the other soap I made yesterday. It has chamamile tea as the liquid, honey and GM. I tried to keep it from gelling by putting it in the fridge, but as you can see, it gelled anyway, but not all the way through. As you can see on the swirly they didn't go all the way thru and the color is a little funky but it smells great and already has such a wonderful thick lather.
  9. http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2485 It's in the tips and faq's section of the board, if this is what you were looking for.
  10. How could you stand to wait so long? I bet it felt good to be soaping again. I was reading about oatmilk today also.
  11. I got a free 8oz sample of that cyclo/dimethicone. I wasn't sure what to do with it. Just add FO and put in a sprayer?
  12. Thank you for the links. I'll read up on that. I just love the feel of those soaps though.
  13. I emailed Rita on Saturday and she said they were working on making the molds and would get them out as soon as they were done. That said, who knows how long it will take.
  14. Thanks e, I got the samples (Those are huge samples) a few months ago. Because I have the dry-flo I use it, but I don't really notice any difference between products I've made with dry-flo and the ones made with regular corn starch.
  15. Soapermom, I've been hearing a few people saying that the animal fats clog pores. I've also seen others saying that it doesn't, that it is hype created by the all vegie soap makers. Personally I use lard in about 1/2 of my soaps and I'm just starting to test tallow. I love the feel of the animal fats in soap. I would be really interested to see the research for the clogged pores. Can you help me out with some links, please.
  16. MMS says that theirs can ship by air. Cyclomethicone INCI: Cyclomethicone OR Cyclopentasiloxane MMS continues to work hard for our customers and cyclomethicone is the perfect example. There are a ton of cyclomethicone varieties available and MMS has chosen one, specifically cyclopentasiloxane, as the variety that will best suit our cutomers. Cyclopentasiloxane has a higher flash point so you can ship your room sprays or perfumes on an airplane without worry. Other vendors sell a cyclomethicone that can't even ship to you via airplane! Be wary, your safety, and the safety of others, is very important. For your reference the flash point is 170°F. Cyclopentasiloxane is the perfect balance between volatility (quick drying) and spreadability. We think it is great for hair treatments, bath oils, creams and lotions, room/linen sprays, and more. Cyclopentasiloxane adds a soft, talc-like feel and is the base for superb dry perfume oils. INCI labeling allows for the use of either name so please use the name most suited to your product and customer base. This cyclomethicone is also known as Cyclomethicone NF. Enjoy!
  17. Isn't dry-flo just corn starch?
  18. http://www.candletech.com/cgi-local/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=bathandbody;action=display;num=1086889010;start=60 I checked the "Peak's FOs in Products" thread in the B&B section of the archives. Mac apple isn't listed in the list in the first post but that hadn't been updated. The link above is to page 4 of that thread and it shows the results for Mac Apple. It was posted by Lisa_1
  19. I think this is will be helpful. I remembered it from the Archives. http://www.candletech.com/cgi-local/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=bathandbody;action=display;num=1113749942 It is stickied in the B&B section in the Archives.
  20. Jeana, Watch for a coop for Agbanga Karite Shea Butter. The coop price is consistantly below $4 per pound is for the unrefined shea butter. I've never used the refined. What I get out of the first post is just what I've always heard, refining removes the smell and the unwanted contaminants, but also much of the good stuff. It would just make sense that the less good stuff the butter has, the lower the grade.
  21. Yikes, 16oz of that must be huge. I bought 2oz 6 months ago and have barely made a dent. LOL
  22. Since when is wicked a "stricly NE/Bostonian" word. It is used all over the west and has been for many years. Great swirls for your first try. I didn't even attempt swirls until at least batch 4-5, and then they sucked really bad. They were more like splotches of color. Good Job!!!
  23. Sorry Julie, the only experience I have with mink oil was as a water proofer for snow boots as a kid. But it worked great. I'd highly recommend it. Just let me know if you need further technical advise. The door is always open.
