  1. There has been several threads on it so do a search on sand candles. Also I think I read to take a heat gun to the base after it's done to kinda seal in the sand or spray with lacquer. And use larger sand not fine or play sand. Do not color the first pour also put a lid in the bottom of your impression in the damp and pour hot wax into it so the bottom wax won't move while pouring. And make sure damp/wet sand is packed very firm before pouring. Haven't done it yet just what I remember reading...somewhere.

I would love to have one of her candles too even though nothing in my house is beach-ee.

  2. The only thing is that 2530h wax is very hard and will really pull away from the jar. I don't know anything about paraffin but J waxes seem to be soft. Maybe mix them together. With soy when you pour hot you get frosting. Maybe mix a batch of 50/50 J223 & 2530h get jar very cold. Pour hot but only a little at a time and don't break that jar. Let the sides set up and pour again making sure the jar is cold. Listen to me telling you how it might be done. Really I have no idea how to get this look.

  3. I am allergic to mold and mildew and I am sure that is not in Hillbilly homebrew.

Well just in case don't pour This Old House from TCS cause that's just what it smells like. IMO And I do think some FO have real stuff in them cause I have gotten some cinnamon on my finger and in my mouth. It taste sweet and cinnamoneee plus ucky.

  4. Liquid UV Light Stabilizer & Absorber

Color Fading Stabilizer for Candle Wax

    Liquid Formula

Our Liquid UV Light Stabilizer & Absorber is one of the best on the market for reducing color fading from light and much easier to use than the traditional powder or flake forms. This additive helps prevent color fading for all types of candles and all colors. A must for those who sell candles outdoors or under fluorescent lights! Recommended usage is about 0.2% to 0.5% if measuring by weight, or about 1/8 to 1/2 teaspoon per pound of wax if measuring by volume. Blends very easily with all waxes. Sold by weight.

NOTE: Helps Candles from changing color even when you don't use any color dyes.

Got this off JBN's site, but does it really work? Since I'm looking to keep color from fading just from age, wonder if this will do the trick. Anyone know what it is? I'm gettin that dried out look again after a short time with GB 435. I know paraffin users don't have this problem but I get it every year about this time.

  5. OMG, Applewood Orchard is the stinkest scent I have ever smelled. It is so musky smelling, if you want a sniffy I can send one. I love Apples 'n Oak too but haven't found a strong one, yet. I didn't think B&L's was very strong.

  6. Ok, After reading this subject matter I went and put 8- 1 oz samples and 1 lb of SFIC M/P shaving soap base in my cart and.......... WHAT...:shocked2::eek: .... they want $10.25 for UPS OR $10.50 for priority???? I don't think so!!!!!! There are TOO many other GOOD suppliers that don't charge such HIGH shipping! As much as I wanted the Warm Orange Gingerbread I just can't afford the high shipping....... BUT I'm glad others can enjoy it :D

    Beverly

Something must be wrong cause I just ordered 14 lbs of FO and shipping UPS was $11.82. They shipped it free but it figured it on my invoice. The have a phone and do answer, I would call and ask about the charges.

  7. I wish those could work, considering the price. They say not to use them for FO and I wonder if that's because it eats them or just because it's LDPE and too much air gets in.

I never read that. That's what I bought them for. The droppers work great for my FO's, I'll have to give them a call. How much would 1% of 1/4 oz be? I usually dilute with DPG but I'm sure not as much as I should. I have some bottles filled with FO that I have had for over 2 yrs.

Love droppers, the ones that seemed to go bad had a plastic dropper not glass. In my case, that is. I get my glass bottles with droppers from RE.

  8. I'm pretty sure I know what you are talking about. I see this slick/ripple when I add paraffin to soy and then only every now & then, as with everything I do! I think it is where the two waxes aren't mixed completely at that very moment they set up. I can pour 60 tarts, all from the same pot, some might be flaky or smooth or a slick or dippy or lumpy or cracked or have powder stuff. Lord knows why I keep pouring cause I don't........ Oh yea, sometimes they are beautiful and smell so good.
