  1. Testing the 6 oz tin today and tried the Premier 770 in it. Burned for 3 hrs last night and it only had slight wax left around the edge with a thin mushroom. Using a blend of Icy Peppermint KY and Candy Cane from BG with liquid red. The flame is large but no soot rising from it, with a 1 3/4" melt area after 1 hr. We'll see how it does with this second burn as far as catching up and cleaning the sides completely.

This scent was giving me a black soot with the CD14 yet the melt pool was not too deep and a huge fat mushroom.

Going to try a 775 in the Sq Mason will let you know how it does. The 765 was too small...

edited .. to change the size tin from 8oz to 6oz......

Going to post a copy of this to the Premier wick thread.

Edited** to change the size of the tim to 6oz not 8 oz......

  3. REALMARCHA

Edit - I melted three containers of 449 in the microwave to start over quickly and decided to let them cool just to see what happened. Lo and behold they're gorgeous! Heated to 200* and just let set. Cold throw is still. Too bad this is not a real solution for production.

This is alway happening to me.. How can I incorporate this into making my candles. Should I mix scent and color then let it cool remelt to hot and then pour into containers. Would I then get no frosting and great candles? When you remelted did the frost sink to the bottom of the jar? Is there a kind of white powder on the bottom? Mine has it, so does that mean it will be in the bottom of the pour pot and heating again and pouring will mix it so they will apear again. Frosting to me looks like air trapped in the wax but when I see the white in the bottom I know it has to be something else. Help......

  4. It might burn cooler, depending on you wick, but in a warmer it depends on the melt point of the wax. And how deep the wax is in it. The smaller amount of wax the hotter the wax. I agree with you that when it comes to tarts wax type might not matter. I work with soy so that's what my tarts are made from. I have only had one custome tell me she uses the tart wax on her skin as a lotion. She said when the scent is gone then she starts to use on herself. I told her not to but I'm sure she will still do it.

  5. Poured GF 449 and 435 tonight with KY's Christmas Tree at 1.2 pp. Used 6 dropes green pp so it is dark. Poured 435 at ?? but it was cool and 449 at 160*. Used a CD 12 in the 449 and CD 14 in 435. With the batch of 435 I have now the CD 14 is burning hotter than I like and is mushrooming. So went down with the 449. Both look great with no frosting. I alway poke near wick and repour never trust the wax. Just topped them off and will test burn tomorrow. I know this scent throws great so I'm going for a clean burn with no or very little mushroom. The 449 just looks creamer.

    pour results...12/16

Also poured Apple Jack, 1.5pp with 449 and KY's red spice. 145* at pouring. The Apple Jack looks great, no frost, 1/2 the wax has pulled away from the jar/wet spot, looks very good. CD14 wick

The Christmas Tree with 449 has frost on the whole top half of jar, sq mason and the bottom looks great no frost at all maybe I poured too fast, no wet spots. Poured at 160*

    Will test burn over weekend.

  6. I have never heard that before and use warmers with 25 watt bulbs all the time. I started making soy tarts 5 years ago and melting in Irvins Punched Tin warmers, 25 watt bulbs. they have a strong scent throw. I now have bought their new larger warmer that has a 60 watt bulb. I can vouch for the Levien 25w, Ganz 25w, Van Antwep 25w, Irvins 25w, 40w, 60w, Waxcessories 40w, Jackel heating element and the Velamour warmer. All work great with soy and paraffin, no difference... hth

  7. First, did you wash your jars? I would try putting in oven till melted completely. Keep the wick holder/straightener on them then let cool. They should look ok when cool. Maybe.

    Always wash jars

    Always pour cool

    Always pour slow

and never stir right before you pour.......

And then you can say it's the stupid soy!!!

  8. They were poured hot, the temp I did not write down. I poured them and she test burns for me. The 449 burned and threw the best on first burn, has a light line around the glass, The 444 burned good but had a larger mushroom than 449. She going to burn again this weekend, checking out the burn mostly. Of the three 435, 444 and 449 so far the 444 had the lightest and worst line around. I'll report after second burn.

  9. I got my tea light molds today and am playing around with them. I don't like the nails/pins that came with them cause I can't get them to stay in or straight in the mold. I have a nine cup size. So I took my votive pins and poked them through the bottom for the wick hole. They don't leak cause the mold material seals around it. Also they are not deep enough for me, they only fill a cup up to 1/4 inch from top. I always poured my tea lights completely full, that's why it was a pain. If I only poured 1/4 from top it would be easier. Now I have my metal cups in the mold and poured them full, my plastic will not fit inside. I'm going to test burn tomorrow to see how long one will burn with my wax. I always get 7 or more hrs. when poured full so if this cuts the time down too much I can't see any reason to make them myself. I only make the unscented ones to use in tart warmers. And I like them to last more than a few hours. Does anyone do unscented and a lot at a time? How about your pouring techniques? I have a higher shelf about chest leavel and place a tray with the cups on it then use a 1 cup measuring cup to pour wax. Maybe I'll try the paper cup next time to pour it might help with the drips. Read on the candle help board "You can also use a wood stirring stick or a chopstick for added pouring control to reduce dribbles." The link didn't go anywhere so could someone explain how that would work? Thanks and can anyone tell my grandkids spent the night and just went home??? TIA
