  1. I love that mermaid, painting on glass is the closest I get to stained glass. I've always fancied having a go at glass blowing. Sally.
  2. Hi Sharon, I'm using the Deka transparent glass paint, it's their solvent based paint not the water based stuff. I love the brightness of the colours but it's not dishwasher safe & it does tend to crack & flake off things after some years. I think you may have the Pebeo paints. The lightshade is clear glass so is the bulb, the frosted bulbs don't have the same effect if you paint them. Glad you like it. Sally.
  3. That red looks really naughty to me, one for a shared bathtime! Sally
  4. Sweet, I was only thinking about making some floating hearts at the w.e. Are they scented & if so how well do they throw? Next time I'm making some heart tarts I think I'll pop a wick in & see how they go. Sally.
  5. Some pics of one of my painted lightbulbs in the light fitting in my sitting room. Sorry the pics are so huge, I finally figured out how to add them but I haven't figured out how to shrink them yet. Sally.
  6. agrace, I've tried ecosoya cba & found it takes absolutely ages to cure. 4 days was never enough regardless of the quality of the fo I tried. I'm working with ecosoya cb135 now & liking it much better. Sally.
  7. MMMM chicken & noodles, yummy. Heavenbound, I think you need to contact the buyer & "buy" yourself time to do all the testing needed & as recommended by the other posters. But don't just give yourself a little time, in my experience whenever I try to rush things something always goes wrong & it ends up taking longer or worse still just doesn't work. Sally.
  8. I use it too, a couple of drops, on a cotton ball in a pocket, helps keep the bugs away when I'm gardening in the summer. Sally.
  9. Initially the site looks pretty good to me, but I found too many images wouldn't enlarge & mistakes in the blurb that put me off. Some of the products look really good tho. ETA they don't only do soy, the rustics, chunkies & hurricanes are paraffin. Sally.
  10. I keep my "not quite right" candles just for that reason, we don't usually get many power cuts, only 2, 8 hour ones so far this winter, but at least I knew we'd be able to see where we were going & I have an open fire so I cook on there if I need to. The kids love power cuts! Sally. Sally.
  11. OMG I'm drooling again.....it reminds me of some of my more psychedelic painted lightbulbs. Sally.
  12. Nice rustics, the colours are great. Sally.
  13. Ladies you have made it very difficult for me to compliment stickywick on his nice balls & keep a straight face! The very first candle I ever tried to make was a ball & I haven't done one since (15 years) however it was already too late I was hooked. Congratulations stickywick that's a nice looking ball you've got there. Sally.
  14. OOO Carol, they all look gorgeous! I've got some mediterranean fig to put in some candles, just waiting on some more waxes. Sally.
  15. Wow they are gorgeous, how long do they take to make them? Sally.
  16. OO I love all these pretties. Sally.
  17. What's not to like the nacklace is lovely & the bracelet would look great sitting on my sister's wrist. Sally.
  18. Hey Sara, I love this new section....something else to lose myself in! As well as my candles, I knit & try designing my own knitwear if I've got fabulous yarns to play with. I used to sew a lot but haven't done much of that for a long time. I make friendship bracelets & sometimes play with beads left over from when I made jewellery years ago. I paint glass, I can't paint a picture but I love putting colours & patterns together & painting lightbulbs is just about my favourite, just did some more today. I also make peel off window stickers & in the past I've made latchet hook rag & wool rugs......still have one of them to finish, it's been waiting a few years now. Basically I don't like sitting doing nothing in the evenings so if I can be creative & watch tv at the same time I'm happy. Sally.
  19. Sounds to me like you need to stir your wax more after adding the fo, it will help to blend the fo with the wax all the way through. Sally.
  20. I sometimes get a bit of a "shell" after the melted wax has sort of spilled over the top, but that melts down in with the rest of the wax & fills the votive holder. All my votive holders are a bit bigger than the votives so I'm going to get some that are a more snug fitting & see how they work. Sally.
  21. Soy pillars can be made & many people do, but they can be a pia to get just right. Trying a soy/para blend might be an idea. Sally.
  22. I wrap mine in two bin liners then whack it good & hard with the back end of my log chopping axe.........it's fun!!!!! Sally.
