  1. Try an Eco 10, I use the 10's & occasionally 12's in my 8oz Ecosoya tins, depending on the fo & they've worked well for me. I know it's not the same wax but it 's worth a try. Sally.
  2. Ask something in off topic & you'll be surprised at the answers you get. There's a lot of very talented people on here & there may well be someone who can help you with your knitting & spinning too. Sally.
  3. CB that's one of the reasons I don't usually colour my soy, I'm getting good with wicking them with FO in, throwing dye into the equation just might tip the balance, that & the fact that you don't see the colour in a tin! I have a couple of jars just for myself that I experiment with dye & fo in but they're just my little bit of playtime & if I get the desired result it's a bonus. Tho' I do keep notes on them. Keep it simple for now & when your confident that they work try again with colour. Have fun. Sally.
  4. Hi Bill I've used both Ecosya CBA & CB135 & had it happen with both. A good blast with the heatgun has always sorted it out, try concentrating the blast on the wick area so that it melts a bit more than at the edge of your container & it will fill any holes under the surface. HTH. Sally.
  5. Does anyone know of this wax, I've been offered some at a good price & want to know what anyone else thinks of it before I go ahead & buy any. I can't get a sample unfortunately so it's 20+ kilos or none, & I could do with some pw wax very soon. Any help gratefully received. Sally.
  6. Just love those stiletto heel burners. Sally.
  7. Haven't tried it but I would probably buy something made with it, sounds refreshing. Sally.
  8. If no-one ever tried mixing fragrances there would never have been a perfume industry. Kymber, I totally agree with you, it sometimes happens that the things we like the least are what other people like the most. I've had several fragrances which I really don't like but customers have done so I keep a small amount in stock. Also I don't yet sell online so my customers usually get to smell the candles before buying so if they don't like the fragrance they don't buy. Can't wait for scratch & sniff screens. Sally.
  9. Probably. I learn something new every time I come on here, it's a good thing to keep educating yourself. Sally.
  10. I have a couple of jars in my kitchen which I use for assorted experiments with colour, they sometimes have odd wet spots which change with the room temperature, but it doesn't really detract from the attractiveness of the candle & it does seem to be one of the quirks of soy & I would tell potential customers that. Sally.
  11. Lol, sounds like the kind of mess I get when I haven't made candles for a while, the first time is always the messy time! I think the mould would be easier. Another idea is to pour a thin layer of wax in a lined baking tin , turn it out when it's set & just break it into small pieces, it doesn't look quite as neat as dots but it's just as effective & you can mix fragrances easily. Sally.
  12. OOOO lovely soaps, the hearts are sweeeeeet. Sally.
  13. Wild Bruce looks like you had fun. Sally.
  14. We don't have electric tart melters here in UK (If any UK users have found them over here please feel free to pm me, I've searched everywhere I can think of) so my tarts are all tried out in tea light burners. I usually use 1.5oz per lb ecosoya pillar wax & they usually last 48+ hours, I'm happy with that. Sally.
  15. I'm currently using Eco wicks & prime them myself with a coat or 2 of soya Pb, they work just fine. Sally.
  16. Hi Bluereef, I use some Eo's in soy & have had some success with some, less with others. I've had the best results in containers, 4oz tins so far, using EO's at 0.5-0.6 oz per lb wax. Successes so far with patchouli, petitgrain, lavender, geranium & others but I haven't got my notes to hand. I haven't settled on a particular soy cb yet but soy works differently for everyone so I won't recommend anything. You will have to experiment & test like the rest of us but it's fun so enjoy playing & take lots of notes. Sally.
  17. I find Ecosoya PB is fine for tarts, its firmer, throws well & pops out of my burners easily. Sally.
  18. Beautiful candles & pics, cogratulations. Sally.
  19. They all look lovely, so nice to see some very different styles. Sally.
  20. I always top my votives off, it rounds them off nicely & makes the tops a bit stronger. If they sink a little after the repour I blast them with my heat gun & that finishes them off beautifully. Sally.
  21. I've had the same problem last week. I had an 8oz tin I was testing out, the throw wasn't very strong in my sitting room so I tried it in my bathroom. The candle tunnelled all the way to the bottom, I marathon burned it once I saw what was going on, out of curiosity. Well this candle had been burned twice before just fine except for the throw so i was very puzzled to see it tunnelling so badly, but now I have the answer. It was a particularly cold day & my bathroom is unheated so now I'm thinking that's why it burned so badly. I'll not test anything in there if it's too cold, it's bad enough going for a pee, you don't want to stay too long! Sally. ETA It was Ecosoya CBA in my tin.
  22. That's a pretty amazing colour change there, I don't make soap (yet) so I'm curious, does that usually happen when you add colour? I like that fragrance & the purple's cool even if it's not what you hoped for. Isn't it funny how we associate fragrances & colours together. My 3 yr old daughter just had an eye infection & her little eyes were so gooed up she couldn't open them for a while, I was burning a candle fragranced with fresh winter's morning & she told me she could smell white. Sally.
