  1. They do have pretty good tarps lol.... but all things mechanical are just not worth it! -Kristi
  2. In my experience, Harbor Freight has great prices, but horrible product. See if you can get it fixed under warranty. If not, buy a different brand with a national name. -Kristi
  3. This is where you just run away screaming and pulling your hair out and come back to it after a few drinks! You can do EVERYTHING the same as always, but if you have a draft and things cool unevenly or if you pour a little too hot or a little too cool or your jars have an uneven temperature or if you sing to loud or a little off key, the soy just rebells. Gotta love it! Enough to drive you (and me) looney:werd: . -Kristi
  4. Aztec is in Knoxville, not too far from me. It's still cheaper for me to pay shipping than to pay for gas though , so I ship it to me. The 1.5 oz can be tricky. They've taken me 2-3 guesses to figure out about every time. When I used C-3 I had to use a HTP-52 with them. I'm using GW 464 now (way easier to wick) and I almost always use an HTP-41, and occasionally that's too much. I have those listed as burn 2 hours at a time since they're so small. Burn time with a safety wick (6mm) is 10 hours, and it's about double for a 3 mm wick tab. They're very cute jars and take almost no wax to fill. Here most people prefer them to melts or tarts, and it's the same amount of wax pretty much. I think last year they were $2.50 each, or 5 for $10 and I sold boatloads of them. Lots of other people carry that jar if Knoxville is too far for you. -Kristi
  5. Have you tried tins? I know, they wouldn't be the best for crystalizing palm since you can't see the sides, but they're great for soy. They're also cheaper for shipping since they don't weigh as much and are easier to pack. At the moment I'm using 1.5 oz oval hex jars (great for the holidays, people buy tons of them!), 4 oz tins, 8 oz tins, 8 oz tureens, 8 oz square masons, 8 oz hourglass (selling out of these and won't be replacing), and 20 oz tureens. I'm considering 5 oz ginger jars from Aztec also- they're an awesome price and I may replace my 4 oz tins with them. I just find a supplier near me and see what they have. Even if I don't pick them up, it's in the same UPS shipping zone. -Kristi
  6. I just got Spicy Apples and Peaches from TN candle supplies and it's listed as skin safe- smells like almost like a winter candy apple and does it ever make awesome candles! -Kristi
  7. I used to like Nature's Garden, and there are still a few scents that I like from them. BUT I started trying alot of other companies when they had $1 samples and CandleScience and Tennessee Candle Supplies have such strong, rich fragrances that really are stronger than NG's (for the most part). I started using just NG, but when I started buying different wax I started branching out. Now I really hardly buy from them. They aren't bad by any means, I just have found other companies I like better now. -Kristi
  8. http://www.candlepro.com is Nature's Garden -Kristi
  9. I just got in Spicy Apples and Peaches and Amish Harvest from TCS and they're both GREAT! The Spicy Apples and Peaches reminds me of a fresh spiced apple/peach butter- not too baked smelling. Amish Harvest smells like a strong bread pudding to me... wonderful smell!!! I ordered these to go along with This Old House that I had to reorder (demanded by SEVERAL people that they MUST have more). That one is awesome as always! -Kristi
  10. I haven't smelled Yankee's either- Nature's Garden's is great though- it's a mix of green apples, ivy, oakmoss, geranium, etc... a great fall scent, but in a cool way vs warm and spicy. -Kristi
  11. I get mine from Aztec- they're not very far from me, but shipping isn't ever that bad on tins. They have great prices on them! -Kristi
  12. I don't know if straight Joy will do a clamshell- it's pretty soft and the customer would have to be able to get it out of the packaging. It would be fine in a tin though! -Kristi
  13. THAT is exactly what I was coming to ask. My customers down here in the Bible Belt LOVE pear, but not so much on the brandy... I made the mistake of buying Merlot fragrance for Valentine's Day.... I haven't sold ONE still... Do tell if it's more pear or brandy and how much you can smell the brandy! -Kristi
  14. I've never needed more than 1 oz pp with candlescience fragrances. In fact, I was able to test 1 oz of their fragrance with an 8 oz jar (same as candlebuddy), then use a couple drops for body butter and the other half oz for a lb of soap. THAT's a great way to test an ounce of fragrance!!! -Kristi
  15. I want to hear more about the Brandied Pear- I love spiced pear scents, but alot of the "brandied" scents are WAY too overpowering on the alcohol... Let me know how that one goes! -Kristi
  16. I do really well with small tea light size samples and an invitation to an open house. Many times, people will ask what other fragrances you have even if they can't attend the open house. For me, this is the end of the deadest time of year candle-wise... Even with the summer scents, people just don't think candle as much until fall. -Kristi
  17. peppercorn from bcn or bnl... I can't remember who it is. Smells just like my DH's favorite cologne... that reminds me I was gonna soap this for him for Father's Day... shoot. -Kristi
  18. Don't start a pot of coffee right when people get there- the coffee smell covers up all the candle smell!! -Kristi
  19. What about Honey Coco Mango from BCN? I'm not sure that there's vanilla in it, but the scent is awesome! -Kristi
  20. My mother has told me that any candle I ever make for her EVER in the future MUST be This Old House by TCS... I'm gonna send her the link to by the FO for me lol... -Kristi
  21. My made up 1/3 Cinnamon Red Hots, 1/3 Toasted Hazelnut, 1/3 Bayberry. It's REALLY good- alot like Home for the Holidays by Yankme, with a touch more nut. AMAZING hot throw too. It's just about covering up my leftover septic smell (ewwww). -Kristi
  22. I've used NG's Pomegranate and my SIL loves it (she collected Pom candles)- used in GW 464 soy. I absolutely love Sage and Pomegranate by Candlescience. I really like the herbal/fruit mixes. Also in GW 464 soy. -Kristi
  23. Well, our septic system backed up into our house last weekend, so this week I've been dealing with some STINKY smells and strong cleaners... I think things are finally to rights and I decided to mix a strong scent to commemorate the end of the septic nightmare- 1/3 Cinnamon Red Hots 1/3 Toasted Hazelnut 1/3 Bayberry 1 oz./lb. in gw 464. Awesome. Gonna keep it and call it Christmas at the Cabin. Yum. -Kristi
  24. Palm Island Hawaiian Breeze Orchid Rain Kulu Bay Children's Room Gardenia Honeysuckle Hyacinth Ginger Bergamot Who likes their Peony?!?! I think it smells NOTHING like peonies! Smells like old lady perfume to me!!! -Kristi
