  1. everyone loves the tuberose moss that i get from brambleberry
  2. that sure is a lot of hard oils. frac Coconut Oil should really be used in scrubs, lotions etc and not in soap. Drop the Frac Coconut. Do you have any Olive Oil? You need more liquid at room temp oils. Butters are pretty much along the same lines as Palm Oil So since you are using a high percentage of butters, you can drop the Palm to 15%. With the reamining 20% from dropping the Frac Coconut and lowering the Palm, you should add 20% Olive oil, or if you dont have Olive oil, add Soybean Oil (regular vegetable oil) this will really make it more conditioning.
  3. Another thing is that even though the qualities may be simular, I swear the bubbles are different. I think OO has better bubbles. IMO
  4. I dont think you can find it locally cheaper than OO. If you order from soapers choice or other online supplier then you can find it cheaper, but then you have to pay shipping. For me its best to get a gallon of regular oo at Costco or Sams club.
  5. Peaks Breakfast at Tiffany's. I didnt realize how complex this scent was until I actually burned it. Very very different when you burn it rather than just sniff out of the bottle.
  6. I havent used Crisco, but I have used hydrogenated soybean oil and even though it makes a hard bar, you really dont get much moisturizing from it. If you end up not liking it, try lowering the crisco to 20% and add 20% olive oil.
  7. The cleansing range is actually perfect. 24% coconut is pleanty to achieve a nice foamy/cleansing lather. You should lower your palm to 30% and raise your olive to 34%.
  8. i would start with 40% Olive, then add 30% Palm, and 20% Rice Bran, and 10% Castor. No coconut needed. Mango butter is good too, add 5-10% Mango and subtract from the Palm. This should give you a nice gentle creamy lathering bar that doesnt turn to mush in the shower. Make sure you also do a water discount. I would say a 33% lye/water solution
  9. Their warehouse is located in Ontario. You still have to order from their main office in Ohio though, then you can pick up in Ontario.
  10. You need to wait another day or so before you cut next time. Your recipe must be real soft. Love the coloring you got going on there
  11. I think these are the biggest Balmoral's I can get when using Soy. These are wicked with HTP 126
  12. I use 7% FO load. I also use metal telight cups. That also will contribute to how well they burn. The metal will also heat up better than plastic, thus making a better melt pool.
  13. I decided to switch to these jars after learning Fairways opened a new warehouse close to me. They hold aprox 10oz of wax/fo. I love them
  14. Holly, i am not sure if you have tried the Ultracore tealight wicks from Swans, but those are the only kind that I can get to work. i use C-3 container wax in my tealights.
  15. Here the candle is about half way burned down now. I went ahead and did a 12hr all day long power burn just to see if i would have any blow outs. No blow outs or leaking occured, but a small piece of the outer shell broke off. The candle set back up beautifually with no frosting. I am still getting a small crack in the center after it sets up. So far this new P2 has got my vote.
  16. it depends how she is testing the candle. In order to get a good test throw, a candle must be burned for at least an hour in order to reach a deep enough melt pool in order for a good amount of fragrance oil to release from the wax. If she is just burning the candle for 20min and judging the scent throw based off that, then she is not testing it properly.
  17. Some e-wax's already have Polysorbate 20 in them. Check out Polawax NF available at Oregon Trails. Its a blend of e-wax and polysorbate 20.
  18. It all depends on your recipe. If you are asking how long it should last in the shower, if its a hard enough bar (say 50% hard oils 50% soft oils) then i would say it should last 3 weeks in the shower. If its more on the soft side, then maybe 2 weeks. This also is the same for how long the bar should last on the shelf, if it has more hard oils and is properly stored, it shouldnt get DOS.
  19. all you need is a soap planner and you can just slice a thin layer off the tops and those would be perfect soaps. :highfive:
  20. wow those are freaken bright. I wonder if the pop colors are going to be as good as those.
  21. yep, those wicks are proably votive size wicks meant for paraffin wax. soy wax is harder to burn. you need a bigger wick. For my votives I use RRD 34s
