  1. how old is the soap that is drying on the skin? If it is too new, sometimes it can be harsh and more cure time is needed.
  2. cosmetic grade oils are for lotions and creams and such. the other oils are for soaping, since soap isnt considered a cosmetic.
  3. I was on their website today and noticed they have a new Soy Wax Container Blend. They come in 1lb bricks and have a MP of 127. hmmmm I may just have to pick a block or two up next time I am in there. I love testing new things. Anyone else tried this new wax out yet, or anyone know if it is actually a different brand in disguise.
  4. I ended up using vanilla mixed with some cinnamon on a brown bear. The scent is holding up great, but since the bear is brown, i cant notice any discoloring. here is a link to the CT tourtorial on how to dip bears. I also wrote a breif description earlier in this thread. http://www.candletech.com/waxdippedanimals/
  5. those are some of the best looking salt bars i have ever seen. great job on the swirl.
  6. I mix my V-1 wax with C-3 wax at about 50/50 ratio. they will be a bit softer so they dont crack. You can do only 25% of c-3 if you are worried about them being too soft.
  7. i usually heat to 170, add color stir, then add fo right away and stir. let cool to about 140 and stir a little bit again, then pour.
  8. oh man that is such a beautiful red.
  9. well here are the ingrediants listed in that scrub. INGREDIENTS: Sucrose (Turbinado Sugar), VIRGIN Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Macadamia ternifolia Seed Oil, Sodium Behenoyl Lactylate, Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA BUTTER) FRUIT, Brassica Abyssinica (Abyssinian) Oil, Di-PPG2-Myreth-10 Adipate, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Oil, Triglycerides of Caprylic/Capric Acid, fragrance, tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol (and) Caprylyl Glycol, Punica granatum linn (Pomegranate) seed powder
  10. So far I have used Sunflower High Oleic with great sucess. I see safflower listed a lot in store brand scrubs.
  11. pretty freaken awesome. My little sister gets bad red scars from her acne, that stuff looks like it would do wonders for her.
  12. next time add some unrefined cocao butter and you will also get the natural chocolate smell to compliment the peppermint.
  13. For the white bears, I would say any type of fresh clean or floral scent. Just be careful the FO itself isnt dark in color, or is known to cause yellowing or discoloration of the wax. I want to try one with Vanilla, but am scared it may discolor the white bear. I may try one with cinnamon on a tan or brown bear.
  14. Actually I used soy container wax for this guy. I melted 2lbs of wax and added 2.5oz of FO. He fit perfectly inside my 4lb pouring pitcher and I had enough room to push him all the way down and soak him completely. I squeezed him a few times so he didnt drip all over the place. I was supprized how little mess I ended up making.
  15. Got my bears from the co-op today. wooohooo, let the dipping begin. I love these little guys. This one is drying as we speak, scented clean cotton.
  16. The best way to do it is start eliminating the scents that are too much alike. Like a few with the same base notes.
  17. i think those look wonderful and you got me drooling with the description of the scent. I want one of those bars darn it. You need to participate in one of the upcoming swaps.
  18. i know when i have used tea instead of water, it does burn the tea a bit and change colors on me. Just for safe measures I would still mix the lye with half the water needed, then mix in the other half of liquid (orange blossom water) at trace. You never know what will happen sometimes, and I am not sure if she is bringing enough orange blossom water to make a few mistakes with.
  19. Patch is wonderful and the other two you suggested are going to smell great. Litsea Cubeba is also a wonderful scent and it holds better than other lemon EOs.
  20. AGE has a few good blends
  21. mmmm i bet those smeel good. they are still cute, even with the purple
  22. That Black Raspberry Vanilla is soo adorable
  23. I really want to give these a try, but am so scared that they will scratch.
  24. That winter candy apple smells sooo good in lotions and scrubs. but i cant get it to stick well in CP.
  25. hahaha, thats pretty funny. looks cool though. Like some kind of stone rock.
