  1. I ended up having to also do a re-batch a couple weeks ago with a similar scent. The first batch I made was scented mango madness and the swirl was to die for. However, the scent faded too much after the full cure. I hated to chop it up, but think it still came our cute. I re-batched it with a Peach Mango over pour and I am crossing my fingers that it lasts. The scents weren’t from Peaks, so maybe next time I use theirs. Just thought I'd share.
  2. thank you, its hard to measure that red in order to avoid getting red bubbles. I will keep my fingers crossed that it doesnt bleed in the shower. BTW I miss seeing your creations, do you have any new pics you can post?
  3. nice swirls, I am really loving the color of that Arctic Raspberry
  4. Back to business as usual Peaks is really making me happy with these FOs that behave in CP. (and with a 30% lye solution at that) Blended their Strawberry and Stargazer Lily together is it smells YUMMY. Wish there was still more room in that Peaks swap. Everyone would have loved this blend. In da mold Cut
  5. I know, isnt it strange how the possibilities are endless with that soapcalc.
  6. When I look at Eugenia recipe, she keeps her total of Coconut and PKO to only around 25% which these two oils are usually used to create the hardness of a bar. But her high addition of lard helps make up for the low Coconut and PKO in hardness, yet keeps the cleansing numbers low. She chooses soft oils that are highly conditioning, yet create a hard bar as well. Throw in a little shea butter and castor for silkiness and you’ve got a kicken bar. I would be curious to see the cleansing number of your bar Top to see what the difference is there. Here is the recipe I use which has the exact same conditioning and iodine numbers as Eugenia. (i make 36 oil batches so thats why the percentages look strange) Canola 15.67% Castor 8.34% Coconut 19.44% Olive 22.22% Palm 11.11% PKO 11.11% Shea Butter 11.11% Hardness 38 Cleansing 20 Conditioning 57 Bubbly Lather 27 Creamy lather 26 Iodine 60 INS 141
  7. Yes I agree they can be a pain in the butt when you first start using them. I think I went through 3 or 4 sheets just trying to cut them the perfect size so the soap doesnt leak through. lol I also noticed if I peel them away from the soap too soon, I get a white residue (probably ash) that forms right where the liner was applied to. So I leave the liner on for two days before I peel away. personally I like the idea of being able to reuse them, buying the reynolds freezer paper is costly and I usually always get crinkle marks on the bottim of my soap. :undecided
  8. I have tried NorthStar. I did a search on google and brambleberry came up, but they may no longer carry it.
  9. If you are speaking of Soy Wax, I belive that if it needs more than one week cure time, then you need a new FO.
  10. I think the problem she is facing, is when the tealight burns to the bottom, the wick becomes un attached in the meltpool, then floats to the side of the cup and melts it.
  11. Northstar carries it and I believe Brambleberry also carries it.
  12. collapsible means that instead of trying to get the soap to plop out of the mold, you can simply unscrew the bolts and remove the sides away from the soap. yes it can be used for any type of soap, just as long as you line it with freezer paper, or now the more popular choice of foam sheets from the craft store.
  13. yes i always consider any mold I buy to hold the total of wet soap. (oils plus water/lye)
  14. as long as your lye measurement was correct, I would say yes its good to use.
  15. She also has a couple of 5-6lb molds. $15ea as well and she will combine shipping. http://cgi.ebay.com/Wooden-Soap-Mold-5-to-6-pound-Take-Apart-Mold-New_W0QQitemZ280098468315QQihZ018QQcategoryZ28116QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/Wooden-Soap-Mold-5-to-6-pound-Take-Apart-Mold-New_W0QQitemZ280097063126QQihZ018QQcategoryZ28116QQcmdZViewItem
  16. I wasn’t able to get a hold of the TOG mold guy so I searched on ebay and was able to score these two new molds for $15.99ea. Pretty darn good deal for collapsible molds. This one holds 2lbs This one holds 4lbs
  17. I too notice this happens when the burner and the oil get too hot. The tealight may be too close to the melted wax pool. or if its electric then the bulb may be too close.
  18. Which pillar belnd is this. The only two natural belnds I have used that were half way decent are the KY Natural Pillar Blend and Calwax P-1 Natural Soy Wax Pillar Blend.
  19. I agree, the dang diapers were the hardest part. It was fun attaching all the items. For the middle part, I used an empty paper towel roll.
  20. ooooh crap, what a mess. :undecided The soap looks great though.
  21. those look pretty sharp. the ink looks bright and doesnt look like its bleeding. great job.
