  1. call the commuity centers in your area. they are usually the ones who throw shows.
  2. so sorry to hear about your run in with a rude person I think there is a silver lining though, you wouldnt have found all the ingrediants there anyhow. The wax for canning isnt quality for dipping critters, and those bunnies you found probably have the wrong type of fur. I have also never seen Citric Acid in a grocery store either, only online. Just order a kit from a reputable supplier.
  3. This FO really smells great. They have a peach mango as well, but I went with plain ol mango. I may have to order some of the other type too.
  4. I just noticed Snowdriftfar carries EMU, they have the grade A for $20 a lb right now. http://www.snowdriftfarm.com/fixedoils.html
  5. I like Mango butter alot as well, but sometimes I swear it makes the soap a little greasy. Like when you hold a dry bar, it gets grease on your fingertips. Does anyone else notice this? I use around 8%
  6. UUUUUM what the heck is this about? edit: because I can
  7. I think all cocoa butters are refined. The only difference is deodorized or un-deodorized. And to answer your question YES the un-deodorized totally stands out and messes with the scent you add.
  8. they all add great qualities to the soap as far as hardness, conditioning and creaminess. This is how the soap calc compairs them: Mango: Hardness 53 Conditioning 52 Creamy lather 53 Shea: Hardness 45 Conditioning 54 Creamy lather 45 Cocoa: Hardness 61 Conditioning 38 Creamy lather 61 Mango has the best averaged numbers, but ugh its so pricey compared to the others. Cocoa does wonders for hardening the bar and making it more creamy, but not as conditioning as the others, and Shea is the highest in conditioning but the lowest in hardness and creamy lather. this is why i pull my hair out trying to choose one.
  9. this is actually very true. average people are really becoming aware of the benifits of shea butter.
  10. not sure, i was wondering this myself about their grapfruit jasmine. i went ahead an ordered it anyway.
  11. I agree with you about going with different grades for soaping, I dont mind using Bamboula Soap Grape Un Refined Shea in my CP, its the same SAP value and quality as their others, but its a little smelly and a little darker. It still kicks butt in my CP and its only $2.00 a lb if you get 10lbs. If I hosted a co-op, I am sure they would come down on the priceing even more. But if I was making body butters, I would have to go with a better quality refined.
  12. Peaks has a strong lilac. I tried blending my own rapsberry lilac at 50/50 and the lilac totally out powered the raspberry.
  13. Not sure if you can make your own, but I wouldnt use them without. I went to a craft show once and saw the same type of metal lids on top of apothecary jars, i went to pick it up by the handle and woops, the large 10oz candle shattered at me feet. The woman looked at me like she knew it was going to happen and refused to let me pay for the candle.
  14. i am torn between two butters too. But if you had to give up one, which would you keep?
  15. you can pour natural CP soap into pretty 3-d molds. Just use full water and pour at thin trace. stay away from HP because it can get too lumpy
  16. cool thanks for the info. I really think i need to stick to one though.
