  1. I wanted to take a quick poll and see which butter people preferred most when making soap. I am stuck between two and really want to windle it down to one to save on costs. But can’t make up my mind. I like mango butter best but its too expensive, for me shea comes in next because it makes the bar so silky and I can get a great deal on it for $2 a lb, however cocoa butter makes the bar harder and lather a little better. UGH please help me decide
  2. I love Sandalwood Vanilla as well. Candlewic has one that I wont give up. Its called Sweet Sandalwood. yum yum Everytime I have tried to soap with anything that includes vanilla, it always turns the soaps brown. So I am not sure if many people soap with it.

  4. I just wanted to give props to Richards Packaging in Kent, WA. They took the extra time to help me figure out the best way to get the most cases of glass and save on shipping. They have great customer service that gave quick email replys and acted very patient with me. Thanks Richards. :yay:

  8. EOs have special qualities to them, they can be healing in many ways. If you don’t care for these special properties, then go with the FOs. There is a great soap tutorial in this message board, I believe it is located in the Techniques & Ideas link on the left side of this board. I started with making 1lb oil batches. (You must have an accurate electronic scale in order to measure properly) I was able to cut this into only 6 bars, so it wasn’t too much. I usually tested the first few batches out myself, and then started giving a few bars to family and friends.

  14. all pillar blend waxes are designed to shrink and pull away from the mold. is this what you are asking? if you are speaking of container waxes, then they are not designed to shrink and pull away.
  15. I posted some places to get them in your thread in the classifieds section. I have used them and they hold 8oz but are filled to the brim. Ususally I only pour 7oz and add .5oz of fragrance oil, and they look perfect. I use HTP wicks in these HTP 105 works well with most fragrances, sometimes I have to go up to a 126 with cinnamon or vanilla FOs I test burn in 4hr increments and sometimes dont reach a full MP until the second burn.
  16. would you mind selling me your slab then??
  17. it could just be air bubbles and ash. do you get a zap??
  18. I have been successful with two RRD 34s in the 10oz apothecary. Be patient and give it time to reach a full MP. I usually test burn for 3-4 hrs at a time. Sometimes it will take two burns to fully reach the sides.
