  1. ditto, I bought three of each color and wish i would have bought more. I always make 7oz candles and I was so glad that these hold 7oz perfectly.
  2. here a pic. the candle on the left was added with brown and the candle on the right was added with orange.
  3. I have to agree here. After reading this technique, I went into my kitchen, melted 14oz of wax to make two 7oz containers. I am using C-3 with no additives. I added 6 drops of liquid red (ECO) and 2 drops of liquid orange (ECO). I just poured and it was looking very cherry/fire engine red. I will wait to see what it looks like when it sets up. I also attempted the red with added brown. Used 14oz C-3, added 6 drops red and 2 drops brown, let it set up and it is more of a burgundy red. I will post pics of both attempts when the one with orange completely sets up.
  4. I would go with Peaks as well.
  5. agreed. I like bubbly as well, but need to keep my conditioning number at 60 or above. Its hard to do that if your bubbly and cleansing number is too high.
  6. You can purchse those waxes alot of places. they may actually be used as an additive in a some veggie waxes where they are not 100% soy.
  7. I purchase raw wicking and coat it myself with a soy pillar blend. There are also alot of companies out there who sell wicks primed with beeswax (Northstar3). You can custom order any wick from candlewic primed with beeswax. Also Wick's Wares sells RRD wicks that are primed with veggie wax.
  8. Great job on the salt bars and i love your shaving containers.
  9. I cant figure out why soy candles are so expensive in stores. I was in a health food store a while ago and a 8oz tin soy candle was selling for 12.99.:lipsrseal
  10. I picked some up on friday, they are perfect. I also saw some heart shaped seamless tins with a clear lid. Looked like they could hold about 2.5-3oz. Maybey too small for candles but would be great for body whip, scented perfume or lip balm.
  11. I just orderd some of this and I was thinking of coloring it light blue
  12. Great having you back Mari, I was wondering where you disappered too. I always love seeing your creations. Speaking of creations, great job with the orb Bruce. You have such a steady hand.
  13. Also not all fragrance oils work in CP, just because they say skin safe, doesn’t mean they were formulated to work in CP. You should always buy your fragrances for CP from a reputable soap supply company since they formulate for CP. They should also have CP notes that are listed next to the fragrance. Telling you if it seizes or discolors your batch. It’s always better to be extra cautious than wasting money on ruined batches.
  14. i have made palm pillars and have never needed to add palm steric. It sounds like you did everything right, and with that high pour temp it should have shrank enough to slide right out. Are you sure the wax you used is for pillars and not containers? The container wax is designed to stick to the container and the pillar wax is designed to pull away.
  15. one thing i noticed right away in her instructions, is that she didnt mention you have to let the lye water cool before adding it to the oils. Thats an overheated batch waiting to happen.
  16. you should really check out Oregon Trails line of FOs. They have a lot of yummy ones and they stick perfectly in CP. I just placed another order with them and this time I got: Fresh Ginger Lime (I am going to soap this one first) Mardi Gras Mysore Sandalwood Orange Blossom Neroli (They also have a spiced version of this) Tahitian Melon and Passion Fruit Bay Rum also their Lilac is the highest in demand but happen to be sold out when I ordered :-\
  17. I just put in an order for some this week, Oh I wish i had gotten the Strawberry Musk, it was so tempting. The ones I ended up getting were: Dragon's Blood (SNC) English Lavender Love Spell Little Black Dress (SNC) Creamy Cinnamon Vanilla Raspberry Lilac Sandy Rose
  18. I am not really sure how to choose either. but the first suggestion that comes to mind is to use the soy wax that has close to the same MP temperature as the J223. I think all of those soys have different a MP. It would make the wicking easier.
  19. I always cool mine down to room temp and have no problems. Once I add the lye to the oils, the temp rises back up. If my oils and lye are too hot to begin with, then the batch over heats. Lots of people also premix their lye and water and store at room temp.
  20. make sure you are also testing wicks by burning in 4hr increments. sometimes it may take two 4hr test burns to reach the full melt pool and catch up. Be patient, too big of a wick can cause smoking.
  21. candlewic allows you to custom build your wicks with your choice of tab, wax primer coating, and length up to 9"
