  1. another thing new soap makers are forgetting to do is let their oils and lye water cool to room temp before mixing them together. Just out of curiosity, what temp were your oils and lye water before you mixed them together?
  2. One thing I do is melt my solid oils then mix them with the liquid oils that are room temp. this cools the oils down fast. The lye water I put in the freezer and it cools down fast as well. I am able to get my oils and lye for a 2lb batch cooled down within 10min.
  3. welcome to the boards mike. You chose a great soy/veggie wax to start with, a lot of people here on this site use it. There is another section on this board for vegetable wax users and if you go in there and do a search for 444 a lot of threads will come up with a lot of useful information about this wax. Have fun making candles
  4. I have used a lot of Candlewic's Ultimate Fragrance Oils with alot of sucess in my soy wax.
  5. Man those are the best pies ever. So much detail. Great job.
  6. aaah sorry girl, i made these back in the summer time and they are all gone. :undecided
  7. I love the layered one, great colors. People in my area love contemporary and classical jars, like the ones you have there, no one buys the masons. I guess it really depends on the people in your own area. You would have to test your own market and see what they like. Craft shows are the best way to do that.
  8. i think you should chop the 4" in half and make your bars 2"x3.5"
  9. ooooh very very nice, I cant wait to see cut pics too. But it probably wont happen until a few days.
  10. wow that sure is bright pink soap.
  11. I wonder if any of the whipped soap people have made on here floats too???
  12. can you tell us where you purchased these from? A grocery store or a candle supply store?
  13. i depends on how much you are going to make, different size shoe boxes can work. line them with freezer paper, shinny side down.
  14. aaah I bet it will still be a beaut. SoapInTheCity made a beautiful on a while back and forgot the FO too, she couldnt bare to re-batch, so just kept it on hand for the un-scented buyers. I am sure you will do the same. share pics when you got em.
  15. OMG that is so cute, Santa peddling on the bike.
  16. with HTP 52s I dont think you will have to worry about the glass getting too hot in that soy. It looks great, congrats on your first biggie.
  17. I am glad I choose a scent that behaved. I dont think I will mind the partial gel if I am pouring pudding.
  18. I am very impressed, its looks fresh and clean. Lighter colors on the home page are really working for them.
  19. Try RRD 55, not sure if the RRDs will do the trick though. You definitely won’t reach the full melt pool in your first 4hr burn; it may catch up on the second or third burn.
  20. Decided to make a home made slab mold and try layering. I am pleased with the layer, came out smooth and didn’t bleed through. Scented Rosemary Mint. Not sure if I like slab molds though, it doesn’t fully gel. My soap is usually ready to cut the next day, but this was very soft due to the non gel. :undecided Personally I like to gel. May have to throw it in the oven next time
  21. I agree, split your batch in half and scent and color each half differently and then swirl them together.
  22. I agree M & P here too. get some curte embeds to put in it. they may have cosmetic glitter at michaels in the soap and candle making section.
  23. got my order from Peaks woohoo They must have shipped it out right before the storm hit. Casaba Mist is amazing, this will be a new favorite for those who love the cucumber melon types. Tuscan Nights smells alot different, it has more of an Airy/Ozonic odor. Kind of like mid-summers night, i was looking for a new mens scent and i think i found it.
