the white stuff is probably ash and the brittleness may also be due to your high percentage of butters used in your recipe. the yellowness is probably because of the olive oil. it sounds like its safe to use.

It is a good idea to test burn for 3-4 hrs at a time to reach a full melt pool. a full melt pool in less than 2hrs is way too big. I use the HTP 105 for this jar and i always get a full melt pool in about 3-4hrs. edit: i use cargill c-3 soy

How long have you had your palm oil? Mine gets real ugly if it melts and then re-sets up. It may not be bad; it just separates and needs to be stirred. (if you really don’t want to use it, you can sub with lard) I use aloe vera oil, (which really is just aloe vera plant infused with an oil such as soybean or canola) so either of those two would work.

she could be using a wick pin, instead of threading the mold with a wick, therefore she just needs to plug the hole up and insert her pin, then pour. You may want to try the wick pins out if your not having any luck with wicking the mold during pouring. Well it sounds like you did everything right. You probably will never get a great scent throw from the yaleys block fragrances. That’s why everyone was telling you to order from other sources. I too live in so cal, I pick up my wax, color, jars, wicks and molds locally from GenWax located in North Hollywood. They are a reputable company that is very experienced in candle supplies. For fragrances, I use suppliers from out of state; I don’t like the plain ones Genwax carries. congrats and good luck

funnygirl, c-3 is a great one pour wax and should be poured hot. that wide pouring range is retarded. pour at 175-180 for smooth tops and no frosting. this wax should also be cured for a couple weeks to get the best throw, excellent hot and cold throw IMO.

you should also be letting your soy candles cure for a couple of weeks before your test for fragrance throw. i always notice a better throw when cured for 2-3 weeks.

maybe you should also send this link to all the suppliers so they can change their advertising. Its pretty bad that all suppliers advertise the c-3 as 100% soy. the c-1 is advertised as a blend but not the c-3.
