  1. It depends on what type of EO you are using, lemon or mint EOs are way too stong to be using more than .5oz pp. That is just my opinion. I am sure someone else here may chime in and say they use a full oz.
  2. MMS has a great selection of EO's and they arent too pricey either. I use them in CP soap and they hold great. For a 2lb batch of soap I use 2 - 3 tablespoons of EO
  3. There have been a couple other threads where this happened. I believe it turned out to be a lye pocket. I think milk soaps have a higher chance of getting these pockets. http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17497&highlight=pocket
  4. I dont think anyone on this board does HP in the microwave. Everyone I have seen post usually talks about the crock pot method. sorry
  5. wooohooo lovely candles and GREAT presentation. thats the next thing i need to work on, my presentation.:lipsrseal
  6. wonderful job, that reminds me of some lemon pound cake ones I made with c-3 soy, I also made some frosting dollops. I have used a lot of the cb-3 before and love it, however i can get the c-3 locally so i manage.
  7. Yep burning with one RRD 55 (these wicks are primed with BW). I have tested these jars before, it takes a couple burns for them to catch up, but they do. I only used 5% FO and three drops of dye in these 8oz containers. If I didnt use any FO or dye i could probably get away with the RRD 50. p.s these are c-3 soy
  8. Thank you all for the additional opinions. I will go ahead and make some without the twine and just the kraft paper sash. Maybe have both with and without the twine. (there is no tape holding it) I am also going to try cutting the kraft paper to regular sheet size and running it through the printer. :highfive:
  9. Found these thick walled square glass containers that are painted on all sides. Also grabbed one of these painted baskets. Then on the drive home, I pulled over under a pine tree and collected some large pine cones. I dipped the pine cones in some left over wax with 12% fragrance added. Thought they would be cool as air fresheners.
  10. If you want a better soy wax, one that has minimal frosting and wet spots but great fragrance throw, then you will have to go with one that needs to be cured a bit longer. 2 week cure isnt that bad. What area do you live in? Would there be any wax suppliers close to you?
  11. Start with two RRD 29s or HTP 62s. I just noticed you said 70/30 blend. The RRD 34s or HTP 83's might be too hot. I use those in 100% C-3 soy.
  12. Personally I like to hug candles. I havent came across a self consuming candle myself. I always get the buldge if I dont hug it. But if ladysg says she got hers to work, then thats awesome!!!
  13. Yep, the Sunflower Oleic and Safflower oleic are both high priced around here too, not as high as Olive Pomace but higher than Canola or Soybean. Luckly I found some locally at NaturalOils.com (which is a 17min drive for me) so I can save on shipping. But a gallon of sunflower oleic is $24
  14. Another one I am loving. Really looks like spiced pumpkin pie. :highfive:
  15. I really like that wood table. Maybe instead of stacking the soaps on top of each other, set them up the tall way and have them lean on each other. Like halfway fallen dominos, to show them off more.
  16. That soap is beautiful, great job with the purple.
  17. Loving those colors. Hope they dont change too much as they cure.
  18. The diameter on these are pretty wide, you may have to double wick. Try two RRD 29's or 34's. That way you dont have a super hot single wick that burns down faster than out. Or two HTP 73's or 83's.
  19. congrats!!! Remember to hug it as well after each burn.
  20. I agree When you test them, let them cure for at least two days before your burn and test burn for 4hrs at a time. If you are testing for fragrance throw, cure for at least a week before burn.
  21. yeah you may need to cure them longer. it all depends hot hot they are getting too. I know tart burner I use gets real hot from the tealight and the scent only lasts a day.
  22. I really have no clue. I know that un gelled soap stays more opaque/creamier looking, it also takes forever to harden.
  23. Loving this scent!! Used 1/2oz pp with c-3 soy and cured for 2 weeks. Its throwing super strong right now. yummy
  24. Thank all of you for th input. I am going to try and re-arrange the bow and ties to be off to the side. I do like wraphia better, however the twine only cost $1 for a large roll, so I think I will have to stick with it. BTW The text is not printed directly on the paper, I printed it on clear labels then stuck them to the paper.
