  1. I don’t have much to spend on packaging, so I bought a roll of craft paper and a roll of twine from the dollar store. I was thinking of this idea. What does everyone think?
  2. I bet it is the glycerine. I notice mine does that when I use too much castor oil. I wouldnt use the glycerine anymore if i were you.
  3. I had high hopes for this soap. Blended some Lavender EO with some Tangerine EO and decided to add a few orange crayola crayon bits to make it look like orange peel (saw on Millers site that they color with crayola crayons so thought I would try it out to see if it was safe). I got it all mixed together and turned around to pour into my mold…. YIKES I forgot to line my mold. I had to think fast, I grabbed an empty Pringles can and quickly wiped it down, grabbed a square of freezer paper and put it. Poured it and went to bed. Woke up this morning and began cutting....the inner core was firm yet the outer part was still very soft, and now I got this ugly discolored ring. I am going to have to let this one cure for longer than I usually do. boooo
  4. I think you did a great job setting up. Sounds like you sold alot as well. Congrats.
  5. oooh Georgia, I just noticed your post count is 666....eeeeek and its Friday the 13th as well. Quick post another post!!!!!
  6. Anyone in the area should really take advantage of this, I am participating in the craft show for my local senior center and the women seem real excited to have me come.
  7. Candlesoylutions has a message board exclusivley for EL wax. Try posting a few questions on that board and I am sure you will get great help from EL experts. You will be done testing in no time.
  8. They must be doing the power GM thing and just adding the power at trace. They could also be freezing their GM and sprinkling the lye on top, so it doesnt burn the GM. Those two things along with white and light colored oils will result in a whiter GM soap. BTW I love the color of the first pic, looks like brown sugar. Straight cuts too, love em.
  9. agreed, this is usually how I make mine. I just cant stand the oil on the top. Then again I am sure there are special thinkeners and stuff you could put in there that would make it more creamy and not so oily or sandy. But I just use mine for myself at the moment and can live with the sandy feel.
  10. Used some TD in this batch. I still have yet to buy more Olive Pomace, still been using the good ol green Extra Virgin OO from Trader Joe's. Without the TD this wouldnt have looked anything close to the scent. Scented with Spring Mountain Mint and a touch of Crisp Cucumber.
  11. I like the idea of making my own, since I can make them any size I want and not have to waste any wick. However, last week I made 72 wicks for an order and my hand was sooo sore after crimping all of them and then I still had to prime all of them. I dont think I will be making my own for very much longer. Candlewic has a great offer on their site that you can custom build yoru own wick, I think I will just do it that way from now on.
  12. I agree, I hate it when people just chime in to take a lashing and have nothing constructive to say about the initial post. People start turning threads into personal wars when it had nothing to do with any of us in the first place. Boooo
  13. Those are great numbers, congrats again
  14. Apple Jack Peel is good also I was thinking about doing Frankincense and Myrrh
  15. maybe add palm steric to harden up the wax a bit and prevent it from seeping.
  16. Perfect white soap Congrats. In order to prevent ash, you need to cover the top of the soap with saran wrap after you pour it and cover with towels to insulate it.
  17. I really really like that one. Very pretty with the mica on top
  18. Great presentation. I heard Oregon Trails has new lip balm flavors for the holidays as well. Eggnog, Pumpkin Pie and Butter Pecan are a few I am dieing to try.
  19. pour hot 165-175. i notice if i pour lower than that i get cracks too.
  20. nah, just rebatch it. I love the swirls you got on this one, totally different from anything else I have seen of yours, but I can also see blue spots where the blue didnt fully disolve. So just rebatch so you can add FO and smooth out the color. You will make more perfect swirls next time.
  21. I use C-3 as well. You need to pour very hot with this wax. I heat to 175, stir in color and Fo and pour right away. Temp is probably around 165 and the lowest. Otherwise I get cracks on top.
  22. I personally find it helpful to post about suppliers, weather it is about their mistakes or great service. Trust me there are a lot of other threads on here that totally bash other suppliers and people have been very grateful of the posts. I think Bitter Creek has a lot of favorite customers that are willing to stick up for them because they do have great customer service and people know them personally. However, they do make mistakes and people have every right to point them out just like they do with other suppliers. I am sure BitterCreek will still be in business and pointing out there mistakes will actually help them to do better rather than hurt them. (Being in the business of Customer Survey's and Customer Satisfaction, I know that customer opinions either good or bad can only help the business do better)
