  1. Your hardness is just fine, actually you can probably even go down to 32 and still have a nice hard bar. Mango will raise your stable/creamy lather tremendously. I use butters at 15% normally for each batch. Its hard to tell you how to incorporate the mango into your recipe because you would have to lession another oil in its place to make room and you arent posting your recipe, so I can not help you any further. Dont be shy, we really do like helping and are not out to steal anyones ideas. :-D
  2. yes that lye mixture was way too hot. I usually mix the oils and lye when both are at room temp. Maybe since you are using milk, refrigerate it and add it to the oils when its completely chilled.
  3. I must have had someting to do with the high percentage of hard oils in your batch that caused the quick stiffness and the milk caused it to way overheat. Next time use more soft oils in your recipe or dont do the milk discount at first, just use the full milk and chill it for a few hrs before adding lye. Also did you allow your lye mixture to cool before you added it to the oils?
  4. aaah what a bummer. I hate it when that happens. feel free to come and post your experiences anytime you like, I didnt feel that you were ripping anyone apart, just sharing your experience. BTW, I notice you live in So.Cal. There is a candle supply company called GenWax located in North Hollywood that sell Cargill C-3 100% soy wax. Lots of people on here use it and it gets good reviews. Keep them in mind for keeping your wax and container costs low since you can pick up instead of having to ship. I would still think about BCN/BCS for their FO's though, they are high quality.
  5. great soaps as always Brenda, I like your BR&V better than mine.
  6. I havent tried it, but I would use full water just in case. I have soaped Peaks Honeysuckle and it accelerated big time.
  7. yes it is the Lush dupe and I belive if you state that it is the Lush dupe when selling, you can get away with it.
  8. Made this 2lb batch with Karma FO from Oregon trails and colored with 1/4 tsp red brick oxide. I have always been scared when using this color. Used it today and got white bubbles. Smells terrific too (still has to be trimmed up though)
  9. aaah, I wish I had time to make those before my craftshow coming up. those are great.

  11. wooohooo, love them soys candles. Your embeds look great, they show through very well. Love your crumbles on top as well.
  12. Oregon Trails Soaps has one: Lilac This is the "perfect" lilac, the one that is so much like the real thing you can close your eyes and imagine the lilacs on the bush. This one will last and last in your soap, unlike its predecessors that died away in a very short time. This one will stick beautifully. Of all the lilacs we sampled, this is by far amazingly true to life.
  13. looking good, i bet the nectarine blossom smells great. too bad about the cucumber, i actually like the way it looks right now, but you wont get those swirls after you rebatch.
  14. I find that keeping the "hardeness" (in the soap calc) around 28-32 makes a nice solid bar that also has high conditioning and bubbly lathering properties. When I try to make a harder bar, I usually loose alot of my conditioning properties. I use almost 70% soft oils in my recipe (15% of that is olive so it actually hardens harder than other soft olis). I also use 15% butters in my recipe as well to help compinsate. With this I get my hardenss to 28 and conditioning to 68.
  15. aaah those are real nice, daisy's are one of my favorite flowers. I like the blue one best
  16. I too love the candlewic catalong. I still have a one from over two years ago.
  17. glad to hear you were able to creat a wonderful new blend. Please ignore some of the other rudeness on here, we all know you meant no harm.
  18. perfect smoothness. It actually look metalic.
  19. those are always cool, but you have to pretty much use gel and paraffin wax to make them. Soy doent work too well for the pie crusts.
  20. nice coloring. are those two separate batches or is one side mint and the other chocolate?
