  1. i had the same thing happen to me on the black raspberry vanilla i made the other day, the colors just got too thick and I could swirl it right. Maybe next time I will just pour it as a stright layer on top and not try to swirl it.
  2. great idea with them embeds. Love th colors as well. But I agree, next time do a layer of blackberry color on the bottom, then a thin layer of crist color on top then top it off with those embeds. Bet they smell great thought. :highfive:
  3. Yes Olive is suppose to take forever to trace, are you using a stick blender? Pics please
  4. 2 days Yikes!! Best of luck to you as well. Thank you everyone, I will be posting more pics of my other finished products and my set up of course. The show is going to be at the local senior center. So I am pretty much selling them at wholesale since seniors are mostly on a fixed income. I am trying to keep my costs as low as possible so that I can at least break even. Luckly the space rental only cost $10 and I get one long table and chair. Pretty cool.
  5. I notice that it makes the bar smoother gives a shiny finish. I tried to sub it with high oleic safflower, but nope it just wasnt the same.
  6. very cute, love the one with the yellow fishie
  7. Those are the 10oz Colonial (Apothecary) jars from Fairways, I also got the dome lids to fit. They only hold 8oz of wax. I usually get my jars locally from Genwax, but they were all out of their 8oz apothecary's.
  8. Black oxide Chromium Green oxide Ultramarine blue Ultramarine violet Yellow oxide and dont forget Titanium Dioxide
  9. I finally feel confident enough to participate in a craft show. It’s only a small one here in my local town, but it’s a start. I am only bringing about 36 candles and 36 soaps. I am making about 12 different candle fragrances and 6 different soap fragrances. I already have all of the soaps made and tonight I was able to knock out about 18 of the candles. The craft show is November 4th so they should be all cured by then. Here is my first photo, more to come. (I still have to trim the wicks) They are all made with C-3 soywax. The yellow ones with frosting dollops are scented Lemon Pound Cake, the hunter green ones are scented Home for the Holidays, the olive green are scented Spiced Pearberry, the medium brown with nuts on top are scented Roasted Chestnuts and the white with brown swirls in them are scented Cinnamon Buns. I made all the embeds myself out of soy as well. **Edit** the second pic is the other half of the order. Medium green with white apple slices on top is Baked Apple Pie, Red with cranberries on top is Spiced Cranberry, Burgundy is Holiday Wassail, White with peppermint candies in the lid is Jack Frost, white with fruit and nut embeds in the lid is Cornucopia, Orange with cranberry and orange slices on top is Spiced Cranberry Orange, dark brown is Gingerbread and last but not least, the rust orange with frosting dollops on top is Pumpkin Pie. Edit** Here are more soy candles I am going to offer, I thought I should offer another type of jar as well. I am more please with the color mixing I did with these batches. From top to bottom and left to right: Cranberry Crumble, Cucumber Cantaloupe Mint, Pumpkin Pie, China Rain, Jack Frost, Christmas Morning, Caramel Walnut, Lemon Bars, Pumpkin Cheese Cake. **EDIT** 11/4/06 So overall I think I did very well for my first show. This was held at our local Senior Center and I wasnt sure how the shoppers would react. I sold all of my soaps and all of my Apothecary Jars and only a couple square mason jars. I wish I had brought double the amount of soaps cause people couldnt get enough of them.... woohoo
  10. Unless it is high Oleic version, then it has a long shelf life and higher conditioning. Sunflower is awesome in soap, I use it at 20%.
  11. Oh my goodness, they all look wonderfull. Such bright coloring. Love them!!!
  12. I really love the colors. Keep working on the swirls a little, but great job.
  13. Ditto!! Candlewic also sells them but they dont come in the dropper bottle. I would actually get the 1/2oz size from Northstar. http://www.northstar3c.com/
  14. Soy wax IS great with scent throw, but you have choosen a brand that needs to cure for at least 2-3 weeks before you get a great throw. Soy waxes can be different, but should'nt need more than 1oz pp of FO. Try a different FO or a different soy wax if you dont like the long cure time with C-3. With C-3 I heat to 155-160, mix in my color and stir in my FO and pour right away. I would say I pour around 145-150. Sometimes I add 1tbl veggie modifier to 8oz of C-3. Here are a few I did with C-3, smooth tops, bright colors and no frost after set up. The frosting does always come after burning though and if they sit around too long.
  15. oooh very pretty, is that pink Mica on top. great job.
  16. Go daddy actually can host your site and include a site builder in the monthly cost. You will be able to build your own site and do all the updates. If you dont want to build your own, they have some sitebuilder refferals on their site, just look under "Hosting and Servers", click on Sitebuilders.
  17. Are they soy wax? the white stuff is the natural fat in the soy wax. It happens alot and is usually reffered to as blooming or frosting. I love your containers, great job.
  18. I go to Gen Wax all the time. They sell Cargill Soywax C-3, C-1, V-1, and P-1. I use the C-3 myself and have great results with it. They have a wide selection of containers now compaired to what they use to have. I use the 8oz apothocary jars. They actually only hold 6oz of wax, any more and you wont be able to put the lid back on. As far as their Fragrance Oils goes, they arent that great, and are way over priced.
  19. You will have to then try Oregon Trails Oakmoss. I belive they call it Absolutley Awesome Oakmoss.
  20. I use .5oz pp of oils. For 24oz oils, I use about 1 1/2 tbls EO, added with 8oz of water, it ends up being 2lbs.
