  1. Okay, I just found out that formulary at this company was the original formulary from Calwax. (but since he created the original formula for Calwax, he cant use the same one for ACCU) I really like the Calwax Calsoy blends (they are my #1 fav) and wonder how this will compare to it. It seems that Swans in WA will be the new distributor for this wax as well. They may even replace the calwax with this brand all together.
  2. wow you got that brick oxide too look salmon colored, love it
  3. I love the candle bowl you made along with this. very shabby chic looking.
  4. now that looks very shabby chic. love them embeds
  5. I like the candles in the top row of the last pic. They look like angels.
  6. great comparison, it looks exactly like those. lol i have been holding off on trying to layer until i get a slab mold, but after seeing these, it think i may try it out soon in my log mold.
  7. Millersoap website makes and sells some soaps with crayons as well as candle color wax shavings. Some of their recipes also say you can use them. so i dont think there is a problem with that. I know my daughter draws on herself all the time with crayons and doesnt have a reaction....... Heres one posted by Kathy Miller Mint Swirl with Avocado Oil (Kathy Miller) 37 ounces soybean oil 24 ounces coconut oil 16 ounces olive oil 8 ounces avocado oil 12 ounces lye crystals 24 ounces cold water Temperatures between 90 and 100 degrees. Add at light trace: 1 oz. spearmint essential oil (2 T.) 1/2 oz. peppermint essential oil (1 T.) 1/4 oz. eucalyptus essential oil (1/2 T.) To this, I added these, which were being kept warm and melted in a small measuring cup on the stove: 1/2 blue/green Crayola crayon 1/2 forest green Crayola crayon A little bit of the original oils
  8. first you need to be sure that those FOs are in fact skin and cp safe. Reputable companies that sell soap safe FOs will usually list if it is CP safe or not. Once and a while you will still get a FO that says its safe for CP and will give a little reaction, and for those instances, YES keep stiring. Are you doing any kind of water discount? If so then dont, more water usually allows for slower tracing so you have more time to blend fully before it turns to pudding.
  9. I think shabby chic are more of rose type flowers, but those are still very pretty.
  10. Its golden brands wax, go to the golden brands website (they may even have a link on this site on the right side of this page) and contact them to find your closest supplier.
  11. Pooky 8, Yes you can use the premade lye soloution. On the MMS website they have a soap making calculator which allows you to choose the option of using a premade lye solution. here is the section i am refering too Select which type of lye you wish to use. Solid Form Lye Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) Liquid Lye Solution If you are using a ready made lye solution, check the box below and enter the enter the strength of your solution. The solution strength needs to be measured as a percentage of lye weight to water weight (% w/w). Using Lye Solution % w/w Make sure you put the little checkmark in the box here is the link http://www.thesage.com/calcs/lyecalc2.php
  12. I love honeysuckle, one of my must have for blending or using alone. and thats a great shade of yellow too.
  13. i usually just stick with the light colored ones. coconut, palm, palm kernel, olive or sunflower. I think its really the FOs that usually discolor the soaps.
  14. LOVE THE COCONUT LIME, perfect coloring
  15. wow, how in the world did you make those layers? very unique
  16. Oh man, you did a great job with those. I am very very jealous here.
  17. This was left over wax I had as well. But I did a google search and found a few companies that still sell it.
  18. I think the SA is composed of Candelilla wax or Carnauba wax or both. These are harder waxes (even harder than beeswax) and probably cause shrinking like hard pillar wax does, therefore causing the wet spots. It also allows for a higher FO percentage use because of the hardening. I am not familar with using dye chips, but using 2 chips on only 4oz of wax sounds like a lot of dye. do you think that may be causing any problems with the collapsing of the tops without the SA? I think you should back down on the percentage of SA you are using. I belive this is the same veggie modifier that the other 2 websites I mentioned are selling, and those were created by EL to originially be used in their waxes. So the percentage suggestion was probably created based off their waxes.
  19. Oregon Trails for Soap FOs and MMS for Essential Oils.
  20. Well people do normally use small lye discounts so it must have been a huge lye discount to not turn out right. If you are not sure if there isnt enought lye, i really wouldnt add more too it, cause then you could use too much lye and the soap will be very drying and cause the skin to burn and itch. Just try rebatching it like it is.
  21. Not sure if it would happen with every recipe but it happend with one of mine, so I wouldnt trust it, if you use it I would run a compairson with the old one just in case.
