  1. I really liked the no odor EVO dyes because I don't like the chemical smell either. Unfortunately, I'm just not having much luck with them in my system. And it's just me not liking them, nothing against the dyes.

Then I picked up some for CS, which I liked a little better. Although I'm not getting the frosting like you are Judy, the wax seemed to turn thick (like syrup) with the burgandy and the red. And because of it, I was fighting with the wicking. So, still not real happy.

Saw this thread, and a couple of others, and took the recommendation to try the dye from Lonestar. Just got those and have tried the cinnamon, red and blue. So far, I'm really liking them. The chemical smell has not come through in the finished product, I don't need as many drops, and I'm getting some nice colors. I've used them in soy melts and palm candles. Just started a test burn on a palm container this morning. Going to try to make some soy candles today, see how that goes.

For my soy candles, I use mostly 464 with a small amount of 4630 paraffin (to help with the frosting and morphing). For the melts, a blend of PB, 464 and a small amount of 4630. The above is just my observations with my system.

I'm interested in what others have to say as well.

  2. When Rhonda responded back to me, around the 19th or 20th, I also go a USPS shipping notice. A week or so prior to that I got an email from her that my order had been shipped Fedex, which I never received. She couldn't find the tracking number. So, she was going to immediately send out another order (20th) and asked that I ship the Fedex shipment back if I received. To date, I still have not received either shipment. MW is in Indiana and I'm in the Atlanta area. Even her snail mail shipments get to me in 2 or 3 days. Also, there is no tracking activity on the USPS shipment. Continues to say the Post Office was notified of a shipment. I keep forgetting to send her an email.

  3. Been following this thread because I think it's interesting. I like learning about the different things people add to M&P. And, I think the little pearls would be very nice looking especially if you can get it to suspend. So, have a question and you might be able to answer Candybee. What are the little round beads on the soap in the link below. I realize that it's CP but the beads kinda look like large tapioca pearls.

  4. I really, really like this fragrance oil from Candle Science. Disappointed that it's for candles only because I think it would make a great men's soap or lotion. Out of all the FO's that I have bought, I don't remember anything quite like this. So assuming the notes that come across are the tobacco, leather and maybe the pepper and black tea? I've stayed away from anything that had tobacco in it because I didn't think I would like it. Guess I was wrong.

For those of you that have sampled this FO, can you recommend others that are similar to this? I would really like to find one that is body safe. I've been slowly reading all the fragrance descriptions on NG, Elements, Peaks, etc. I know NG has a straight Tobacco, not sure how that would be. Unfortunately, the name of the FO and the scents that are in it aren't easy to determine just by looking at the name. I would have never guessed Caribbean Teakwood has tobacco and leather notes.

Anyway, I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

  5. I like the Newspring Ellipso brand better. To me, they seem to be a more sturdy construction and the lids fit tighter. I use the 1 ounce size since they will fit in the smaller warmer bowls. The 2 ounce size would be great for the 2-in-1 warmers you get from Candlemakers or OBI.

Keep a look out in the Co-Op section. The portion cups seem to be a popular item for that. Webstaurant has a great price but shipping is pretty high. With the co-op you don't have to buy a full case and the shipping costs are shared.

Jack, I know you're in Georgia so take a wander through Garden Ridge. In the party/catering section they carry bags of 25 or 50 of the round Dart cups. I think they are the 2 ounce. They are more expensive per each than online, but it would give you a chance to work with them before ordering a large amount. I believe Costco has them too. If you would like to compare to the oval Ellipso, I can send you some of those as well. I'm in the area so postage should be minimal. Just PM if interested.

  6. For those of you that participated in this pre-buy, have you received your items yet? I got an update notice last week that my order had shipped Fedex. Still have not received it. Usually only takes a couple of days for her shipments to reach me.

I sent an email to Rhonda yesterday asking for the tracking number and have not had a response. She's always so prompt in answering them but haven't heard anything so far. So, just wondering if anyone else has their order yet before I send another.

    Thank you!

  7. Not sure where you get your Apple Jack and Peel or what the main notes are, but some suggestions for a different name.

    Autumn Apple Strudel

    Spiced Apple Cider

    Cinnamon Spiced Apples

    Jack's Spiced Apples

    Candy Apple

Apple Crumble or Apple Crisp - These might need more bakery notes to make sense.

    Anyway, hth.

  8. Don't know if it's the same thing, but Camden Grey sells Dandelion Leaves in the Herb section. Seems to have been used to treat a variety of ailments. I'm with you, maybe that's one way to do something useful with them...

  9. Scented,

Ok, dug through my restaurant links and couldn't find quite what I was looking for. And, the coffee supply links only had the bags with the valves. Anyway, are you looking for the tin-tie type bags or the stand up pouches ( as you said :) ) that are made out of different materials? Like those in the link below...

    http://www.stockbagdepot.com/stand-up-pouches/

Not sure how their prices are and you have to buy 1,000. Just trying to figure out what type of bag you are looking for.

Lovely Lathers, the link in my previous post is to a supplier that has poly-lined tin-tie bags. hth

  10. The ones at Elements have the polypro liner, so maybe that is what is needed to handle the fo/eo? The place below sells the tin-tie coffee bags, plain or with a window, and they have the liner. Not sure if the colored ones have the liners. Website also mentions people use them for bath salts. The 100 count box for the 1/2 lb or 1 lb gets them down to around .17 cents a bag, depending on size, etc. That's not too bad a price for packaging and a cute idea. Making some Fairy Dust for my little niece, was wondering what I was going to put it in.

If anything, you can buy a small 10 bag sample pack to test just to make sure.

I have quite a few restaurant supply type links around somewhere. I'll dig through those, see if they have the closable bags.

  11. No issues with fully melting the tart? Seem to remember some people having trouble with the bulb type of warmers. I only ordered the 2 in 1 plate warmers although I really liked the Butterfly one. And my Mom would love the Magnolia. Guess I should have ordered a couple to test. Always next time!

  12. I've had good experiences with Aztec as well. Shipping is reasonable and fast turn-around. They also carry 5lb samples of most of their container waxes, which is nice for testing purposes. Plus, they are the only place I've found that carries my DIL favorite FO, VS Super Model.

When I get to that point, I might need to do the same thing. Take a day trip and stock up on the wax and jars. I think they are less than 3 hours away. At least with the way I drive!!

  13. Math is not always my strong point, so someone may have to jump in here. The overall dimensions of the mold is 11" x 10" x 1.1". So a swag at each cavity would probably be 3" x 2.5" x 1". I took a little off each for the space in between. Maybe that will give you a general idea.
