ashncandles
Instead of attaching the wick to the bottom of the tin - can I poke a hole into the candle, insert wick, heat gun it and then burn? Or is it harder than I'm thinking to put a hole into the candle? I'd be testing 6006 and 415.. and I want to test both HTPs and CDs in 8oz tins.Would save on wax if this is possible.. ChandlerWicks
That's what I do without the heatgun part.

chuck_35550
I use a meat thermometer to poke my wick hole in the candle and then a pair of pliers to remove the wick. HTHSteve
rjdaines
It works but at some point during the burn the wick will flop over and then you are done.

FaithfulScenter
I use my wick holders to hang the wick into the candle. If the wick is not tabbed I just attach the wick to the center hole with a drop of hot glue, then if it doesn't work, I heat the candle, pull it out and do it again. schmism
I make a lot of votives, so ill test on full size votives, if a test burn goes poorly (with that wick combo) ill melt it down pick the tab'd wick out of the melt and set it aside. next sample pour ill pour a 3/4 or 1/2 full votive and reuse the burnt wick on the new blend for a test burn.I label plastic bags with my votive wick types and toss the used kind back in the right bag so i can keep them separate. HorseScentS
I poke a hole with a metal skewer and stick the wick in without heat gunning to test the wick size.
