fricative
Does anyone have any experience in creating your own fragrance oils from scratch? I've been attempting to infuse grapeseed oil with dried botanicals to get a scent not commercially available, but I'm not having much success. The oil seems to infuse with lots of lovely scent, but once I get it in wax, I don't get any throw, hot or cold. I've been testing the oils out in clamshell melts made from ES PB, I haven't wicked any of them yet. Is it even possible to get a strong enough scent on your own? I feel like I'm fighting an uphill battle! Thanks for any insight!Fae
ChrisR
That infusion would be good for soaps, not candles. Even using it in soaps, the scent usually doesn't come through the lye process. I personally have never seen a way to make your own candle fragrance oils.
LeahRB
I'm guessing you would need synthetic scent components. I don't think they would be easily obtained. If you are wanting something natural, have you considered essential oils? Edited February 11, 2014 by LeahRB
