beckemmons
Going to try and make my own ParaSoy blend this weekend with 4627 and 464 and suggestions? Also going to try the 464 with 4794 for melts. Not asking for anyone's recipes just if anyone can give me a idea of some good starting points. I have tried mixing the 4794 with 464 in the past and wasn't happy with the results I did a 25% 464 with 75% 4794 and the throw wasn't what I was looking for on it. Has anyone else had any luck mixing these wax's? TIA!
chuck_35550
No, I tried 4627, 4630 with 415, 464 in all kinds of percentages and didn't care for any of the results. The only blend I found to be consistent was 85% 6006 and 15% 415 or 464 with a cd wick. Great appearance, cold and hot throw for most fos at about 7% load. I know there are some real fans of 4627 and 4630 but those waxes just didn't work for my taste. HTH Steve
MissMollie
Chuck, isn't 6006 already a para/soy blend?
chuck_35550
Yes. It is supposed to be a 65-35% formula and the additon of 15% soy makes it a 50-50 blend. I don't know if that's true but it works out real good. HTH. Steve
MissMollie
I've used 4630 harmony blend at 20% with 464, seemed to eliminate the frosting and give me an over all better looking candle. Haven't really tested sent throw yet hot. I suppose it doesn't matter once you put any paraffin in, it's no longer an "all natural" soy candle. So you are essentially making your own joy wax, with better quality results it seems lol

MissMollie
Chuck, any suggestions on wicking that blend in an 8 oz jelly jar?
IwantItgreen
I'm not Chuck, but personally from experience with a similar blend, I would start by making two candles, one with a CD8 and the next with a CD10. Burn them for 3 hours each time and burn to the end. Even if at first you think it's too small, keep going to the end. HTH!
MissMollie
well I have some test kits coming for cd, lx, and eco, for the different types I'm making, so we will try and go from there. I know candle science recommended a lx-16 for the 6006, or an eco2, that seems tiny.
IwantItgreen
I use ECO in my parasoy blend. I don't use that jar, but I think an ECO 4 would be a closer guess.I have no experience with LX in parasoy. Have fun with the testing! Remember to let them cure for a week.
MissMollie
Well I also do soy with 464 for the people that want a soy candle, but just like the look and performance of the blends, the jar is a 8oz jelly that's 2& 3/4. c/s recommends a eco10,

PurpleFeather
I would love to know how you do with the 464/4627 blend. I'm testing this combo myself. I'm using the 8oz square mason jars, though, and I think that's what kicking my butt. Smaller diameter at the top, then they get fat and sqaure. I think I might go to the jelly jar. beckemmons
I will be mixing these up this weekend, if all goes as planned. Had plans to do it a couple of weekends ago and got sick, then was going to do it this past weekend and had bad storms. My brother lost his roof so been taking care of that. So hopefully I can get back to my candle making this weekend and try to mix this up fingers crossed! I will let everyone know how it goes. chuck_35550
I agree with a cdn or cd 10 as a starting wick. You might find cdn 10 for heavy fos and cdn 8 for light fos but I bet the 10s will work in almost every application. Steve
MissMollie
I tried the eco 6 and cd 10 in 464 with the 8oz jelly jar. Both had good sent throw, though after 6.5 hrs the eco6 had a sent pool 1/2 inch the cd 10 was at 1/4. It took both about 3 hrs to reach the sides of the glass on initial burn. Any suggestions or insight?
MissMollie
was thinking of upsizing each one step and trying that. The eco had a bit more of a mushroom, and good sent pool, but took over 3 hrs
MissMollie
fragrance load was 1 oz for 1lb, one dye cip, and one drop of color.
IwantItgreen
When you're testing, you can (should) power burn them just to see what happens when an idiot gets ahold of one. However, the rule of thumb is to burn a candle 1 hour per inch diameter of container.
MissMollie
yep, like I said took almost 4 hrs for them to reach the edge on the cd 10, and even after 6.5hrs, it only had 1/4 inch sent pool. The eco 6 had 1/2 in pool 6.5 hrs in and took around 3 hrs to reach the sides. about right, but I'm going to try one step up on the eco. The cd 10, the wax discolored slightly
MissMollie
It would appear though that you were just about dead on with the advise on the eco 6, but the cd 10 would need to be bumped up. Oh well..more testing!
WaxAttacks
I recently tested the 4627/464 combo and wasn't impressed
