Guest OldGlory
I thought we should move the conversation about the maxis out of the coop category, since the coop is complete. I would love to see some packaging ideas here!I found a short ramekin at Old Time Pottery today that is a perfect fit for the maxi, $1.19. So perfect that it doesn't slip or wiggle at all in the ramekin. For those looking for options, what are you finding? Also, one of my wholesale customers is going to have her husband drill out a hole for a maxi in cross sections of pretty small tree trunks. They will only drill 1/2" deep so it sits in the hole, but still sits above it.
Unique candles
Wow, that will be really nice, I am trying to find something also for the Maxie I made several testers with palm wax and they burned for about 10 hrs, I am going to test with j50 and cb 135 next week. Wish the had covers for them.
Guest OldGlory
I have gotten 15 hours out of a few maxis during the testing phase with 464. I was very pleased with that. I asked the sales rep about lids/covers and he said they were no closer to having a lid. Maybe one day!

Guest OldGlory
Moonshine, maybe you are overwicking. When I was burning my first samples I wondered if they would ever finish. I figured 10 hours probably, but they just kept burning. And I burned them until they extinguished themselves. (I really wanted to test the polycarbonate itself.) I used 1.6 oz of 464, fragranced at 6%, and filled them within a mm of the top. I was testing wicks - pretty sure I had a Premier 735 and 740 in the first bunch. How tall is the wick tab on your wick? That also might be a factor.
moonshine
I am using the 6mm neck like my jars and I do think that has a lot to do with it- a lot of wax left in the container I am going to wick down to what I use in votives and they do have the smaller and see- but the throw was great! ChandlerWicks
The 3mm do work better. I ordered them from CW. I have to wick up to a 51z from 44z in 4786 on a few.
Guest OldGlory
Moonshine, my testers had very little wax left in them - just a film really at the bottom, and a tiny puddle in the center. I should have taken pictures. I am testing a different wax blend today - about 25% paraffin and 75% soy. After burning 1.5 hours so far, the melt pool is still 1/2" from the side. Both wicks are burning nicely - flame is not too big. I can see a difference in the size of the flame between the 740 and 735. When I get to the final burn I will try to remember to take a picture.
