denetteb
I have an itch to try my hand at making a soap cake! For my first cake I am thinking of making a grasshopper pie type cake. I have my chocolate (Soapalooza's Chocolate Truffle), but I need a non discoloring foody mint. I am not really looking for a peppermint, but more of a creme de menthe sort of fragrance. I have been considering BB Moroccan Mint, but wanted to throw this idea out there to see if there are any other FOs I should consider. Any recs? On a side note, my inspiration for making this cake is the soapalooza's chocolate truffle fo. Wowsers is it good in CP...so yummy!! I made a small sample bar of it about 6 month ago and just barely put it in the shower. I look forward to my time in the shower each day...that is how much I am enjoying this chocolate! It smells like the real deal, and her description is spot on in that it discolors to a milk chocolate brown and the later is white. I have never had a brown soap have white lather, but this one really does! *sigh* I am just so happy to finally have a chocolate that I enjoy! chuck_35550
How about AH/RE's Mabel's Mint Sugar Cookie? No vanillin and a slight discoloraton could be corrected with a little TD. It's a soft sugar cookie with a slight mint note. If its not minty enough, you could add a splash of peppermint but I would stay away from spearmint. Even a little spearmint gives you chewing gum, IMHO. HTH Steve
Candybee
Spearmint smells great in soap. Just takes a little practice to blend it. I love it with rosemary.
chuck_35550
Ack CB. There's just not much choice with mint. You have spearmint, peppermint, buttermint and then some variations on a theme. Its too bad that the Peppermint Patty is not skin safe from KY at AH/RE. Its a good blend but not many applications IMHO.
SuzyK
Peppermint Patty at NG is skin safe. I love it! It has 1% vanillin content.
TallTayl
Spearmint smells great in soap. Just takes a little practice to blend it. I love it with rosemary.Jinx, lol. Spearmint essential oil at a low % will be smooth and luscious. It is great with vanilla, rosemary, peppermint, chocolate....
