pixie
Every time I try to make a red cp soap, the color comes out bad. I try for a nice christmas red or cherry red and I end up getting maroon, pink, mauve, or puke color. Can some of you soap stars here recommend a good red? Thanks guys
Barbara AL
I just bought Red Rose Mica from Bescented.com I haven't tried it yet but there are pictures on her website. Edited November 10, 2014 by Barbara AL
KrazeKelly
I blend a hot pink, burgundy and red oxide. I don't always use the same suppliers but find that combo works pretty well. Use more hot pink then add a little bit of the others until you get the color you want.

Do you mind sharing where you get your hot pink and burgundy?
KrazeKelly
I use either BB Electric Bubblegum, Fired up Fushia or Nuture Hollywood Pink. BB also has burgundy, but I've been using Colorona Bordeaux from TKB lately.
Jcandleattic
I use TKB;s neon pink mixed with a red oxide and will get a nice true Christmas red and not a barn/rust red. The trick is actually not putting too much red in it, but enough to turn the pink red. I just mix until it looks about right and it rarely morphs.

Shar
I blend tutti fruity pink colorant WSP with a little red oxide, and also add NG tomato red, but sure would be good to find a true red without all the blending.

Makes me feel like a scientist!! LOL But I agree, it would be nice to not have too so we could get the EXACT same color each and every time. Mine is very close to the same everytime, but I do notice there are times where I'm a little heavy handed with one or the other color.
Shar
I get heavy handed too, and my red doesn't always turn out like I want everytime.. I now want to try the red rose mica that Barbara mentioned, it looks great in her Lovespell soaps in the gallery!

I ordered a bunch of micas/ colorants last night from Bescented:) Wondering how good her fo's are in cp? I needed Amazing Grace, so I ordered it as well. I'm looking forward to trying it after reading positive reviews on her version!-

soap_nut
I used WSSP Matte Americana Red Oxide Pigment powder for my candy cane soap this year and it was awesome. If I can figure out how to post a pic I will...LOL

soap_nut
Here's the picture of the candy cane soap. I suck at swirling so this is as good as it gets for me...LOL Some day I'll get the hang of it but in the meantime I'll pretend that this is how I wanted it to look
Candybee
I think your swirls look pretty good! Anyway its a beautiful soap.

chuck_35550
Oh wow, the rose and the raspberry together are so red. The purple (I think its Magical Purple or something like that) is too pretty. Now, if I only my technique were better on swirling.
