chappy6107
What are the best methods to cleaning up your equipment after making a batch of candles?
Candybee
Lots and lots of paper towels and my heat gun. I also have a putty knife that comes in handy.
Shoegal
I use tons of paper towels, my heat gun and alcohol. After I pour, I wipe my pouring pot out with paper towel. Then I put some alcohol on the paper towel and wipe it out again to remove any left over scent. I wipe down my thermometer and spoons with alcohol too. If there's any hard wax, I melt it with the heat gun and then wipe up the wax. Done and done!

Jcandleattic
Exactly as the others have said. Paper towels, heat gun and either alcohol or mineral oil (I use mineral oil, it works the same as alcohol and will dissolve any wax residue left as well) I know there are some people who wash their soy with soap and water, but I don't work with soy - and even if I did, I really don't think I would do this. chappy6107
I have alcohol on hand, works great for killing the previous scent. when I run out, I will try the mineral oil and see what works best. thanks for everyones help! Jcandleattic
The drawback to mineral oil is that it does leave a very slight oily residue that should be rinsed/wiped off. I use it to also wipe/clean my molds - which in turn helps season them.
franu61
I use paper towels also. I save the waxy papertowels for my hubby to use to start a fire. Better than newspapers
moonshine
Viva paper towels....tons of themI am now on auto ship with Amazon! LolThey soak up so much more and leave no residue- I wipe my thermometers before the wax hardens and set the pour pots on a griddle to liquify the wax again if it hardens
chuck_35550
Wipe out with paper towels while still warm and then use no fragrance, no lint Baby Wipes. I still use an old dish towel to make sure there's no lint left. Store in a cupboard so dust and dirt won't get on your stuff.

ddweller
Has anyone tried using sponges? One to wipe the wax out and the other to remove scent with alcohol
Candybee
Ever tried getting wax out of a sponge? You would have to wipe out the wax with paper towels first before you used a sponge. So it doesn't make sense to me to use one. I've been doing this for years and the best method I have found is using paper towels to soak up the wax and wipe out the pot. You can then use wet wipes if you want to clean out the scent. Now I no longer use wet wipes because I have found it really isn't necessary. If the pot has been cleaned up nicely with paper towels the lingering scent won't get passed on. I just buy the cheap brands of paper towels and use lots of them for cleanup. I buy the 50 cent rolls of paper towels. Work great and very, very, cheap.
chuck_35550
The only time I use wipes is with color, otherwise, what CB said.
lmc
I agree with Moonshine, nothing cleans up the way Viva does and you don't need to use near as much.
HillzRAlive
I use old newspaper or circulars and sanitizer (would be the same as alcohol)
