Trappeur
Well, once you look at these pictures of a design I'm working on for a store, you all will probably think I've lost it. lolWell maybe I have.....Here's my version of a shabby chic prim look. Please....I won't be offended at all if I should just chuck this design. I know it's really overboard and different....yea....different for sure, lol Everyone knows the look today of the gauzy shabby clothes on the market place today. That is what this store is. That type look with rhinestones, bright colors, natural colors, etc. The owner of the store asked me to come up with something different that she could sell as well as give out gifts as a thankyou for good customers who spend a lot of money in her shop. I'm thinking maybe change the jar to something more sleek looking? I don't know.... I have been into lots of shops where they have metal accents, keys, etc on accessories, even clothing and handbags so what do you all think of what I did? What should I change? Or just chuck this whole idea??? I'll tell you what those burlap rosettes are a tedious thing to make but I found a couple of people on etsy where I could buy them from. They are all made a little different and the price of the candle would go up, but it's interesting......lol I did 3 different lid choices. Even the zinc top I like as it picked up the silver in the number. Yai? or Nei????? You can make fun of them too....You won't hurt my feelings, believe me. I always listen to what everyone says and can take critisism. lol Trappeur #1Black lid #2Silver Lid #3Rust Lid I always put my signature doo dad melt embedded into the wax like this one.
joym
Nay - think the rose overpowers the jar. How about some cluny-style lace with a small flower & some jute around the neck? If you have it, try a white lid? What are you using for a label? Is there a significance to the number? What about a status jar, with one of the labels that you do so well.
Trappeur
I thought the same thing....the rose was too overpowering.....Actually I just pulled out a 21oz status jar to fiddle around doing something on it. Great Idea! The only thing about doing something on the neck of the jar is that there is no neck so I would have to glue it down like on the rosette. No significance to the number. I wasn't even sure if I even liked it....lol Maybe something else or maybe nothing. A white lid would be pretty also with lace....hmmmm....my mind is thinking. Thankyou for being honest. Belinda
I agree that the rose is a little overpowering but it sure is pretty on there! I love the one with the red lid. A friend of mine and I used to make shirts with the lace doilies and ribbon roses on them. Maybe you could do something like that if you're looking for that victorian, shabby look. And like you said, a white lid would be pretty on there.
kandlekrazy
Agreed, that would look great with a small burlap rose or burlap poppy and I'd scuff up the lid paint.
megandgarr
What about a simple 1-2 inch band of burlap around the center of the jar, or maybe a piece of lace, or maybe both (a thick band of burlap with a thinner band of lace)? Or maybe a rusted primitive heart tied on a piece of jute around the neck? If you have not done so already, Pinterest can provide you with thousands of ideas. Just input your search of "mason jar ideas", mason jar candles", or shabby chic mason jar, etc. Grab some snacks and a drink because you might be on there awhile .
8-GRAN-ONES
I like it. .if you think the rose is to big why not make it smaller. ..or put it on the lid. .And I love your signature doo dad in the wax. .
Faerywren
I like the idea of a tin or rusted heart around the neck, or maybe a star? And burlap with some tea dyed lace would look really nice! Edited July 14, 2015 by Faerywren

NrthTxWind
Trappeur, I noticed the melt in your jar. It doesn't interfere with your wick when its burning? I did notice that you said embedded . It isn't something a customer can take out and use in their melter? By the way, beautiful jar and candle.
