Jsmith91
I use the IGI 4630 paraffin. I just started using the 8oz jelly jars with the 44-32-18z wicks. It seems to be the wrong size as the melt pool did not reach the edge of jar after 2 hours of burning. I was wondering with these size jars if the 51-32-18z would be better? TallTayl
Keep burning it. Don’t worry about melt pool early on in the candle. The most important part is the last third.
Jsmith91
Thank you! I was just worried because the other candles I have made in a different style did not have this issue. It just didn’t look right with wax still on the sides of the jar after 2 hours of burning. I will keep burning and see what happens. Thank you for your reply. TallTayl
Definitely don’t judge until at least the mid point. After the mid point things can heat up very quickly turning a decent candle into a hot, sooty mess.
