Scent Cellar
I have been using 5% but have been thinking of doing 7%. Would the difference be noticeable on your skin? I do a luxury bar using 8% and it's great soap but I don't know if its because of the luxury oils in it or the higher superfat. Why do you superfat at the percentage that you currently use? I would like to get some opinions on the different percentages and why you use them.
Bunny
All my "normal" soaps are at 5%, and all my milk soaps are 4%... Can't really tell you why, just what I've always done. Why not try the 7% and see how your skin feels?
RobinInOR
I started at 5%, but now I'm at 3% or 4%, depending on what calculator I put my recipe into. I use a smaller superfat to increase lather - we have hard water in this area.
Linnyeg
Be careful, if you use too high of a superfat your soaps can go rancid faster.
Sara
I do mine at 5% as well.
sad72
When I was making soap, I always did them at 5%.
Sherie
For the most part 5%. That's the way I learned it. I have done a few at 6%. Hmmmm, gonna have to try Bunny's idea of the milk soaps at 4%, thanks chic!
