moniek
For those who make lip balms, do you use the flavorings that are pre-sweetned or not pre-sweetned? I read on a web site that sells flavorings, and it read that if the lip balm is pre-sweetned, it causes people to lick their lips, causing their lips to dry out?! Any input on this? Carrie
I don't buy sweetened flavors nor do I sweeten them. IMO, lip balm flavors are for smelling, not eating.
Purple Lilac
Same as Carrie here also.

RobinInOR
The sweetened are the most popular The sweetness enhances the taste and smell, since both those senses are inter-related. Though I *am* developing some unsweetened EO versions... And yes, licking your lips causes them to dry out.
gerrie
Like Robin, my sweetened ones out sell my unsweetened ones, by about 4 to 1. I tried doing both, always ended up taking home the unsweetened tubes, so now mine are all sweetened.
ChrisR
Sweetened here also.......I couldn't give away the unsweetened EO's, except my menthol one, which sells great in the winter months!
moniek
Ok all you "sweet" ones, where do you get your flavor oils at?
ChrisR
BC has some good presweetened ones. Also I get some from Sweetcakes which are unsweetened and they have a sweetener I use.

moniek
eo, is that essential oils? I have never made any with eo's? Do you use less oil or more?
sudsnwicks
You would use less oil when using essential oils.
elle110
I used to make unsweetened only, but never got repeat biz on them bcz people want sweet. Now I make most of them sweetened and sell them like hotcakes and tons of repeat sells. I leave the EO lip balms unsweetened. I get mine from MMS
