can anyone tell me what the INS # means? and where should I keep it when making a recipe?

when I make a recipe using olive oil its like 155..but then when I us the same recipe but plug in RBO it drops lots to 140. Does it matter?? and how can I bring it back up but still use the RBO?

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

INS - A measure of the physical qualities of the soap based on the SAP and iodine value. Experience has proven a range of 145 - 165 will gennerally be acceptable. Closely related to Hardness and Iodine values.

Found this here. SOOZ

I love this page. It is the sooz calc, at the top check out each of the tabs. Tons of information.

I've been told by a couple of experienced soaper's here to pay more attention to the Iodine level....between 60 & 70 is considered good. Now I'm sure there are differing opinions...but so far this has worked very well for me. The sooz is a great place to spend a day....or 2! ;)
