Candlewitch
Do they keep bugs off the table outside or deck or is it just bolony?
dragonflydreamer
I can't give you a definitive answer, because it's hard to quantify that, but I have purchased (never made before) citronella candles for my picnic table and think it helps. Candlewitch
Citronella, and what about the other scents bugs supposedly dont like, such as rosemary etc?
carol k
they don't like sage, rosemary, catnip, lemongrass, lemongrass & sage, peppermint, peppermint & sage.as far as citronella eo i've used it in a spray for my horses and it just didn't help to much. stacien
Actually Lavender is a great repellant for indoor pests. I usually make a lavender, Peppermint and Citronella blend candle for outside. Peppermint is the one they dislike the most though. I learned a long time ago when storing clothes to use a piece of peppermint chewing gum to keep the moths out. peppermint
Does it have to be EO to work or is it the scent and a FO and be used? I have a pregnant mom that wants nothing to do with EO's.
grandmaskitchen
I have heard many others say they use Lemongrass instead of Citronella. They say it smells a lot better and works just as good as Citronella. Haven't tried it myself, but would sure like to experiment with it. carol k
you must be very careful with eo's around pregnant women small children and animals, can be very dangerous, way to much risk for me to use them.

Janette
Years ago, 60 minutes did a test with citronella candles to see if they repelled pests. In the end, 60 Minutes claimed that citronella candles were really of no use in repelling mosquitos.
