LaVida
per lb of fats and not total weight of soap? The sage F calculator seems pretty nifty as well....
Carriegsxr6
yes, per lb of the fats.
Bunny
Yep, water is just a bonus.. lol
Carrie
I think of it like this...The water evaporates out, that means that when the soap is all cured, it is supposedly only saponified oils and superfat oils. Therefore, you only scent the oils.I may be wrong in my reasoning but that is how I figure it.
CareBear
Usually we write it like this: 0.7 oz ppo. The ppo = per pound of oils. That might help you remember it!
Crimson
Oh yes, I began by adding fo ...based on ounce not pound... and did something with the decimals.I hope I was the only one. Although the soaps did come out smellicious! Added 1 ounce/10 ounce of oils. Couldn't quite figure out why my bar cost was so much higher than everyone else' bar cost. skg
Some fo's and especially some eo's you can do less than 0.7 ppo... I have some scents that I only add 1 to 1 1/2 oz. for 3 LB's of soap.
LaVida
My ENTIRE bar of candycorn layered soap turned a dark brown... I was so discouraged. I used 2.5 oz of EO for the 2lb (or maybe it was 3 ?) recipe - I calculated at total weight. Shame on me... But now I know... Thank God my rebatch turned out ok.. I made a mini "spice" cake and a log..I just have to frost it along w/ my Chocolate "cake"..... I'l do it this wknd and take pic's... Crafty1_AJ
I usually scent at 6% (1 oz. ppo) but then again I'm a scent junkie with an impaired sense of smell. Some strong fo's and eo's I will only use at .7 ppo.Yep -- agree with the others. Count the weights of your butters & oils, nothing else.
