Robin29
Here is my bright idea for bath salts. Sell the first batch to a customer in a nice glass jar, then sell bags for refills at a lower price. This way, cost of packaging is cut down, it recycles, and cuts down on a customer having a lot of glass jars hanging around.Has anyone tried this? How did it go? Hubby did bring up that glass might not be too good of an idea, though. Thoughts?Edit because I forgot about wooden scoops, those would be in the starter package as well. Oh, and where can I get wooden scoops?
Late Night
We must be on the same wave length because I thought of doing the same thing. Then I thought about glass in a bathroom with slippery hands, bare feet and nekid. Not a pretty picture here.
Robin29
That is what my hubby said. I have been using a glass jar for years with no problems. I wonder where we can find pretty plastic jars.
Candle Man
I think the customer would lose a loose scoop. I have seen BS's in plastic bottles and think that works well just un-screw lid and pour out as much salt as you like. Here are some ideas (these are not mine)
Robin29
I never thought of putting them in a bottle like that before, interesting.
Meridith
You could also package them in plastic tubes or jars. Or, you can put them in a cello bag tied with a pretty bow and tag.
LovelyLathers
I love the look of the plastic ones CandleMan has posted. I do not use glass in the bathroom for items like that. I am afraid that a child would break it and get hurt.
idahospud
There is a co-op going on right now for the 8 and 16 oz. milk bottles. Bath salts look beautiful in these! I was using the glass bail jars, but since have changed to plastic bottles for my bath salts.
Robin29
Ok, I keep seeing things about co-ops. What are these?

Cello bags sound good, if I can't find plastic bottles/ jars that I like.
blazerina
Just a little idea for those who love using glass but after reading this are a bit more wary, lol.... what if you somehow adhered some of that grip foam around the belly of the jar? Yanno that stuff they sell made into place mats and rug holders- looks like lattice work- helps you open jars, etc... seems like it would somehow be a bonus selling point. Robin29
Seems like it would be hard to stick to the glass.
anncee
I package my bath salts in those chinese take out boxes. Check out www.usbox.com but have been lookingat pvc tubes www.sks.com
sockmonkey
Are glass jars really that big of a problem? When I use salts, I'm using dry hands to pour them into running water. I keep them stored in a cabinet. Many cosmetic manufacturers use glass jars to put the products in as well.
Robin29
Thanks for the link, ANNCEE.SOCKMONKEY: I do the same, which is why I thought hubby was crazy for objecting to glass jars.
beloved
If you put it in glass than the costumers that are like you will buy, but if they are like me and I like the product, I keep it near tub. I do not buy glass container for my b&b. Just input for your thoughts.
