ladysj
I bought these at Wally World to use for soap. They are going to be kind of small bars I think. They measure 16"x3"x2. What is the easiest way to line these? I have everything to make my first soaps and I really would like to make up a batch today.
friendlyMOM
if those are the plastic ones, I do not line them but have sprayed them with pam and they have released for me pretty easy, only minimal amount stuck in the corners, but soaps can be shaved on edges to make them pretty again
ladysj
Yes they are the plastic ones. Thank you so much for replying I was thinking I needed to take a shower or something lmao nobody was replying.
Crafty1_AJ
Among my first molds were a wider version of what you're using. I lined with freezer paper. Worked great.
Hibiscus
Is that about a 3 lb mold? I think I have something similar around here.
Carriegsxr6
I dont think those will make small bars. Actually they would make perfect bars. If the dimensions are what I think they are. 16" long x 3" wide x 2" tall? You can cut 8 bars out on one of those slabs. Just use it like a slab mold, only fill up to about 1". Then you can cut 8 bars that are 2"wide each. So your bars will be 3" long x 2" wide x 1" thick.
Bunny
I have ones like that, they make perfect B&B soaps for the thin cut I put on them. I line the mold with one piece of freezer paper, but don't line the ends. Score two lines and I'm good to go! Have fun with that first batch! ladysj
Thank you everyone for the help. Carrie thanks for the pouring tips. I was wondering how I was going to get them right lol. I'm not sure how much they will hold. I've got to get some new scales now dam it.
Bunny
And I forgot.. Mine hold right at 1 lb 8 oz each...
Meridith
You can also line it with a plastic bag. I do prefer to line my mold with butcher paper.
Carriegsxr6
And I forgot.. Mine hold right at 1 lb 8 oz each...Is that with water? If so, then I guess you can make a 1lb (of oils) batch.
Bunny
Umm... I believe so, as I don't measure any other way.. Yeah, it's oil weight, not water weight.. I think...
Michi
I made my first batches in a plastic organizer similar to that (it was quite a bit wider and deeper) and I didn't line it with anything, and my soap came right out. Of course I waited until it was pretty dry before taking it out of the mold (about 2 days).
Funky Monkey
I also have the same "mold".. and I don't line mine either, I use Pam. Be careful not to use to much though or you'll get brown stuff on the bottom of your soap.
