Googs
I've ordered my presto pots. I've been reading and reading all the information available on this site. I haven't decided yet whether to mix the F/O and color in the Presto or mix it in the pour pot. I do use a digital scale. My question is how do you weigh the melted wax in a hot pour pot without damaging the plastic on the digital scale? What kind of barrier should you use to protect something that you don't want to replace often because of cost? (digital scales aren't that cheap!) Sorry for the kinda dumb question, I'm still learning! Thanks ScottPS I know there have been a lot of discussions lately about Presto Pots and I really do appreciate it !!!! Everito Bandito
I weigh my wax before I put it into the presto pot - wax weighs the same whether it's solid or melted....no?
Googs
What I'm trying to understand is...if you use one presto for each wax, and you have wax in it most of the time (I think people do this?) Is there a way to protect the scale? Does this make sense? Thanks,Scott
MichelleOH
You could just put a hot pad on your scale and set the your pour pot on it. My pour pot never sits on my scale long enough to cause any damage.
TartAddict
Ditto what Michelle said. I use a hot pad on my scale D

debscent
I put mine directly on my scale and no problems, but if you are concerned, take a large ziploc bag and place it around your scale, to allow you access to the buttons, etc.
dandelion garden
I use a hot pad as well when I do need to weigh in the pot. But beyond that, I had DH score marks on the inside of each of my pour pots showing 1lb increments. So I just fill to the mark I need. It's not exact but it's close enough for rock'n'roll.
