Raggedy Dani
Hi there,I have been shrink wrapping my soaps and tarts and sometime no matter how quick and careful I am with my heat gun....sometime the shrink wraps would split, tear or whatever.....is there such thing as thicker shrink wraps that don't rip, tear while shrinking??any help or pointers greatly appreciated!!!ThanksHugsDani
Beth-VT
What gauge are you using? I prefer to use 100 gauge, as the 75 is just too temperamental for less than professional set-ups.
Candle Man
There are 2 thicknesses of shrink film but one has to get to hot for candles, can't remember which. You just have to seal the film real good then be careful and wave the gun to avoid burning a hole.If you have a heat gun that only has one setting then that may be to hot. Get a gun that has temp. settings and it should work better. Here is some good info on How to Shrink Wrap http://www.essencesupply.com/shrink/shrink.html

Raggedy Dani
Try a hair dryer instead.no hair dryer melt the tarts cause they take longer to shrink wrap then a heat gun does. so i use my heat gun...which works great for shrinking buton some I get a hole in them. CANDLE MAN...WOW YOU'RE SO AWESOME WITH INFORMATIONS!!!! THANK YOU!!!now to find thicker guage shrinkwraps.......HUGSDANI
KristinesShower
I find that if you use the lower setting and really take your time it won't break, but it takes alot of extra time and practice. I can't shrinkwrap to save my life - that is why I have my sister do it lol
RiverStreetDesigns
When I had tarts I had the same problem. What I found was that I was holding the heat gun too close. So instead I just put my hand back so its about 9-12" away from what I am shrink wrapping and I never had another problem of splitting. I also had it on the low heat setting.Hope that helps.
NotJustFragrances
I find those heat embossers you get at Michaels or JoAnns in the stamps department work really well! With the 40% off coupon you can get them really really cheap
