mbrown
I know how you feel. I wish I could swirl too. This is the way I look at it. I can't swirl a lick and people still love my soaps. I will just keep trying and follow the directions listed on the thread and see what happens. Just because you can't do all the pretty colors doesn't mean your soap isn't good. THEIRS JUST LOOKS BETTER THE OURS.Keep trying.....I AM

TexasBrat
I hate those swirl queens. I am color and swirl challanged. I can make soap now with no probs but when it comes to coloring I suck big time. I should call my soaps "bubble ugly soaps".

Rob in tx
and I've been in a slump, because of health issues, but who doesn't want to make all our soaps so pretty with the swirls?? I would love to come even close to some of the delights I've seen lately!! There is hope around the corner, we just have to keep trying. :highfive:

Hibiscus
I have lye phobia too and am seeking counseling for my soap porn problem. :laugh2: I've been thinking about this thread and with the holidays coming up and all of the cake baking going on...wellll how about practicing the swirl with cake batter and oh pancake mix is also a good thing to practice on. Use food coloring and get your swirl on ladies! and it won't be wasted cause you can always eat it even if it loks weird.. :laugh2:
soapari
The gallery makes me green too. I did a nice swirl once, long time ago in a "martha mold" and sold most of the bars. Of course I saved the very best one to oodle at and it has sat in the soap room for a year. I ran out of my berry sage soap at the show a couple weekends ago and my husband came down to help me restock bringing the swirl soap. He said to me "I thought you said there wasn't any more of the berry sage" I had this panic squeaky voice trying to explain this was THE SWIRL SOAP and "I cant sell that swirl, I made that, look at the colors, havent been able to swirl since, keep trying but nooo, maybe it is the molds" etc.. The man simply looked at me and said-you seriously need some help-and left to go home taking the token swirl soap with him.I may just be trying to figure it out too much but it seems like the chefs turned soapers among us really seem to get the swirls and new styles of soaps down quickly so I am taking that cake batter thing to heart and trying it. Hibiscus
Baked a small cake last night with cake batter I found at big lots. it was a 5lb bag for $3.00 and because I bake my cakes from scratch I planned to give it to my sister she has 3 boys who love cupcakes. This cake mix needs only water and your baking! so, I thought I would play with it to show how good it is for practice. Now, this is definitley not the best swirl but you get the point. one mix was yellow and the other chocolate. I will play some more this weekend..cupcakes for the kiddies..LOL...like they really care what it looks like..lol.

maryann
Their are some really beautifully handcrafted soaps in here- I agree!!!!Swirling is HARD!!! I know when I get one its all LUCK, as they all come out different for me, I have found though that the more shallow the mold the better I do at swirling.
